Move house with Avant 1.95% 7yr fixed

Move house with Avant 1.95% 7yr fixed

I’ve 21 years left and 295k remaining on my mortgage. We are considering moving house in next year or two. We will either move to a cheaper part of the country so mortgage would go down if anything or else we will stay in Dublin and probably need an extra 400k on top of our existing mortgage...

How to calculate if PCP early redemption payment is correct?

So you are saying what they are doing is probably correct? How can one validate though that they are calculating redemptions correctly unless there is some transparency?

How to calculate if PCP early redemption payment is correct?

I took out a car loan and I am paying it off very early (after 4 months) but I'm shocked about how much the interest is front loaded on this. When asking the lender about it they have said it is because interest is being calculated by the rule of 78. I took out a 4 year PCP loan at 4.9%, the...

    Max pension contribution

I'm not clear from reading the revenue website regarding the max tax free pension contribution I can make? https://www.revenue.ie/en/jobs-and-pensions/pensions/tax-relief-for-pension-contributions.aspx I'm in 30-39 age group so the max I can contribute is 20%. My employer is currently...

Closing down company in most tax efficient way

I’m not sure exactly on the cost, let’s say for calculation purposes it cost €40k 25 years ago. The company was in the construction industry, other assets are just a van worth maybe €10k, no liabilities.

Closing down company in most tax efficient way

Does anyone have any advice on the most tax efficient way to close down a company? There are 2 directors, husband and wife and they have a business premises worth about €250k that they would be selling and this is the main company asset that they would like to be able to minimise the tax...

Banks that allow rental income to cover first mortgage

What's the best source to find out if I can definetly claim interest relief on the mortgage payments or not? That is a bit of a deal-breaker!

Banks that allow rental income to cover first mortgage

I need to do some calculations for sure, this is very early stage thinking. I don't even have a house lined up to buy or build, but I'm starting to look at mortgage applications. Having 1.3m of property assets is a huge % of my wealth, like 90%. I'm trying to figure out if it would be a good...

Banks that allow rental income to cover first mortgage

I realise house prices can fall, but ultimately this is an investment just like any other which also have risks and there are no guarantees. Is there any other reason why it's a bad idea? Over any 25 year time frame have we ever seen prices lower at the end compared to what they were at the start?

Banks that allow rental income to cover first mortgage

Can you expand on this part where you can only claim relief on the mortgage originally taken out to purchase the property? I've switched multiple times, and intend to switch to Avant for a long term fix if I was to keep the house after buying another one. I'm in the market for a new house and...

Banks that allow rental income to cover first mortgage

I'm considering buying another house in an area not reasonably commutable to Dublin, but would like to rent my existing family home in Dublin and use that to cover the cost of the mortgage. The mortgage is about €1600/month and the rent in the area for a 4bed in Dublin is in the €2.5k to €3k...

Avantcard to target high earners only

Any idea what they will perceive as a high value mortgage? Will be ready to switch again in May, would like to do a few cash backs again and then settle on these if they have the lowest interest rate. A 5 year fixed at 2% I wouldn’t turn my nose up at

    Savings/investments for childrens future

I know this is an old thread but I’m basically in the same position as the original poster. Have any more options come to the market since the last post? Is it possible to setup an account in your child’s name (20months old) on DEGIRO or Revolut? Are there any clever ways to pay less tax here?

    KBC regular saver maxed out

Is this still the best regular savings account now or are there other better options available given this new rate decrease?

"The next bust is on its way but nobody is shouting stop"

The issue about who owns it is potentially a valid one. However the technical solution is the very best that is out there and won't become obsolete in the next 25 to 30 years as once you have the hard and expensive part of laying fibre in the ground and stringing on the poles to upgrade that in...

Can I get cash back twice from one provider?

Yeah. I went back to the same mortgage advisor as I had taken out the mortgage with 2 years prior.

Can I get cash back twice from one provider?

I managed to do this, first in 2016 and then got it from them about 4 months ago again. It was the same property and also with BOI. I did email my mortgage advisor to confirm it first just in case. They had sent me the cash within a few days after drawdown.

    Mortgage rate 'war'

Things seem to have quietened down again on the rate reductions. I wonder who will go next to make a move and will we see the 2% cash backs continued into next year or not?
