    KBC 2006

Demoivre, this is hands down one of the best statements on this site. "If the banks had intended for customers to roll to a standard variable rate after a fixed rate why didn't they just state that clearly in the contract, which they are supposed to do ?"

Bank of Ireland BOI redress appeal

You intially got 1200 compensation and on appeal a further 2500. Thats 200% extra compensation on appeal. Thats a good amount when you look at it percentage wise.

AIB Why the Central Bank allowed AIB to set the prevailing rate retrospectively

Would this be similar to a betting slip/contract (I don't bet so not sure how it works). You can put money on a horse at certain odds prior to the race. Lets say fixed at 2 to 1, wrote on your slip. Or you can put money on a horse and not have the odds recorded on the slip. You receive the...

AIB Why the Central Bank allowed AIB to set the prevailing rate retrospectively

Are the CB not rolling over a little too easily on this matter. Should that not be saying, we're not happy with this and getting their own legal advice on same. Not relying on an individual to seek expensive legal opinion.

Key Post Issues to consider if appealing Compensation for Tracker Mortgage

Hi Jim. How would you view my situation. We never missed a repayment and even sold our second car in 2008 as funds where thight. But my main grievance is actually when we had money. We received 90,000 in late 2009 and we looked to invest this in a rental property. I strongly feel had we been...

KBC KBC says I am not impacted

Saying they will contact your solicitor regarding any changes prior to drawdown would imply that rates, wether 'prevailing' or not are set at time of drawdown. Prevailing means current or existing at a particular time. If prevailing was set at date of drawdown, it is both current and existing...

KBC KBC says I am not impacted

''' the interest rate and fixed rate term specified may vary on or before the date of draw down of the mortgage and in such event, the prevailing fixed rate and fixed rate term at the date of draw down will be notified to the applicants solicitor.....then it goes onto break funding...

Finance Committee meeting Minister for Finance and Central Bank this week

I hate the term 'broke' you didn't brake you're contract. You only activated a clause in your contract allowing you to end your fixed rate period. The most you can be penalised is the financial loss to the bank from Dec 08 up to March 10. It says this in black and white

KBC KBC statement on tracker redress

This is ridiculous if the have information and are not providing it. This only increases the level of frustration with them. If and when you receive redress you should make a complaint about their failure to notify you

Anyone stopped paying their mortgage while waiting for their redress ?

If you wrote a letter stating that the bank were charging you an incorrect sum. And that you are withholding all payments until a review of your account is complete. Even set up a deposit account within same bank. Put funds in this third party account while awaiting on outcome. I think this...

Tracker Mortgage that was split, with a portion going fixed

You would need to check the original contract. I wouldn't be too optimistic as this would have been superseded in 2006. How you're contract would differ from others is that there was probably no clause for having a split mortgage. Unlike most contracts that stated the penalty for breaking...

Bank of Ireland Bank of Ireland paying me only 220 compensation

Totally agree James j. Banks are not bowing to pressure from the CB, they're only fear is of a high court ruling. Remember they totally disregarded both the CB and FSO rullings and it was only at the steps of court that they finally gave in.

Bank of Ireland Bank of Ireland paying me only 220 compensation

Brendan to me this is much clearer than just a dispute over a contract. Would banks not have been willing to go to the high court if it was just a dispute. I'm sure with their legal teams they would have had a good case if it was a simple dispute. I think banks tried and failed at this but are...

PTSB PTSB 1 year discounted tracker - they have put me back on the right rate

Hi Dee, I believe you should be in the review but your case highlights the problems that PTSB are going to have with regards this inflated rate. They already gave you an option of availing of this infltated rate, but you choose SVR. So why are they offering it to you again. You could have...
