Accurate Net Pay Calculator for Public Sector employees

My one (Excel for Windows desktop only; uses macros so won't work on Mac, mobile or Excel online) caters for both private and public sector staff: https://taxcalc.eu/monthlyss/Employee+PAYE+calculator.xlsm

How to split tax credits efficiently between husband and wife?

I'd split the standard rate band €47500 and €33000. Tax credits could be split equally as both incomes would fully use their share, but a ratio of roughly 60:40 to the higher earner would seem fair too. My spreadsheet (Excel, for Windows desktop only, uses macros) is available free at...

Has anyone a link showing new thresholds for the various PRSI classes? Might be a bit early but I can't find anything on www.welfare.ie

How much tax will I pay after some financial restructuring?

As per Ciru75, USC calculations are incorrect as each person has their own calculations and bands. You can use my USC spreadsheet to check: http://taxcalc.eu/monthlyss/dlf/USC%20calculator.xlsx

    Rent a room relief query

Thanks for the quick response. I am wondering about the following point regarding the following definition of a 'qualifying residence' per the above PDF: The room or rooms must be in a residential premises situated in the State that is occupied by an individual as his or her sole or main...

    Rent a room relief query

I'm seeking any opinions on whether 'rent-a-room' relief applies in the following scenario. I believe it does but could be missing out on something. I'm also unsure whether 'joint assessment' or 'separate assessment' is an issue. A married couple, presently jointly assessed, are faced with one...

Gift tax to family members living in Canada

Am I paying too much tax? Please advise?

You're correct that if each earner is above the standard rate band then no particular benefit applies to joint assessment. Where it can make a difference is if one earner's income drops below the band (e.g. maternity leave or redundancy/being unemployed for a period). Joint assessment allows for...

    Tax credit on student relief

OK, my apologies. I over-focused on the 'student' in the title.

    Tax credit on student relief

There is a 20% tax credit available for tuition fees paid for third level education but my understanding is that this doesn't include accommodation costs. It's for things like the student contribution and tuition fees (if any are paid). There are specific exclusions as to what qualifies (e.g...

    Tax Credits when married

As above, tax credits can be shared evenly and for 2022 standard rate bands also. For 2023, if the incomes remain the same, you can take the €1000 of your spouse's SRCOP which s/he won't be using. See my 'Allocate standard rate band' spreadhseet at https://taxcalc.eu/monthlyss/ for more

Most of my fortnightly payslip has gone to tax after bonus sent to AVCs

One other point worth clarifying- the OP states that he's maxing out AVCs, which I take to mean that based on age, he's paying the maximum permissible amount of AVCs. If the full bonus is now being paid in as an AVC (rather than say 30% of it or whatever), wouldn't that potentially mean that...

Most of my fortnightly payslip has gone to tax after bonus sent to AVCs

Agree that it sounds like it's to do with the value of the bonus but it would need to be astronomical for additional PRSI [4%] and USC [max of 8%] to impact on regular net pay to the extent outlined by the OP!

    Bonus Voucher

The following page outlines the concessionary COVID treatment for 2022: https://www.revenue.ie/en/covid-19-information/employer-reporting-filing-obligations/benefit-in-kind-changes-during-covid-19/small-benefit-exemption.aspx It has nothing about 2023, however.

    Income Tax Calculator

My spreadsheet at http://taxcalc.eu/monthlyss can do that- if you PM me I'll supply a free code to activate (normally it's charged €2.50 but as the Budget is soon to be released (when I hope to issue a new vesion) I'm good to waive it for the current 2022 release).

Are there Revenue consequences if I donate shares to my immediate family members (i.e. children)

It might be worth checking if 'retirement relief' could be availed of on the disposals to the children.
