Key Post How to get AIB to allow you move to a lower LTV mortgage rate

I've received a reply from AIB stating that it was policy back then NOT to allow people move between bands. It looks like this policy is no more, simply from the questions asked in the Oireachtas and the uncertainty in answering from the banks reps. I'll be getting my home valued again and hope...

Key Post How to get AIB to allow you move to a lower LTV mortgage rate

Me too I've tried it on two separate occasions over as many years. This excerpt gives me renewed hope to try again. Have you quoted this in your previous correspondence?

Key Post How to get AIB to allow you move to a lower LTV mortgage rate

Very interesting thank you brendan. I have tried in the past to move down through the ltvs to no avail. Reading this excerpt it looks like they have been breaking their own rules. Will email them again with the above attachment. See what they say to that

    Incorrect debit taken?

Hi thanks for reply. Debit comes out on 6th. As said they had already notified me in a letter in September saying my payment in November would be 945 coinciding with their announcements of ltvs being cut. I don't see how me over paying the mortgage should see the rate revert to 3.4% and thus...

    Incorrect debit taken?

Hi all, trying to get my head around something here, would appreciate others input. Current mortgage with aib circa 150k remaining. On ltv of >80% was 3.4 now 3.15. Ok so issue I have is since March this year I have been over paying the mortgage by 500 pm via standing order. This reduced the...

AIB is dropping its variable rates by 0.25%

There's really no thinking needed. Just do it.

AIB is dropping its variable rates by 0.25%

Excellent news, I have always found aib to be the fairest of a bad bunch. If they'd only allow movement between bands we'd be laughing

Successfully got AIB to move me from a 3.3% to 3.1% variable mortgage rate.

They've wrote to me...... To summarise they have stated - the banks stance is that movement between bands is not permitted, they then contradict this by stating (in reference to other clients getting reduced ltv rates) some clients have indeed been allowed to move between bands. They say it goes...

Successfully got AIB to move me from a 3.3% to 3.1% variable mortgage rate.

The op shouldn't be different and this is why I have emailed them on the matter. I have sent a second email to them querying their lack of reply. I'm choosing email rather than phone as I want their reply in black and white for easy reference. I urge everybody else, who this may effect, to...

Successfully got AIB to move me from a 3.3% to 3.1% variable mortgage rate.

No when coming off your fixed rate youl have the option of reverting to your previous ltv or going on to the svr. Movement between bands is not allowed. The op is an exception rather than the rule. Just to add, aib have not replied to my email, one week later

Letter from AIB offering to reduce mortgage rate due to lower LTV?

I also got one of those letters, and im assuming most other clients of aib did too. It looks like the op is ok as he has always been on variable rate. To others though be very careful and read the fine print. You are not allowed move between rates if you previously had a ltv applied to your...

    Switching between AIB LTV bands

You were lucky, or i was unlucky. Either way that is the exact same procedure i went through. One year fixed rate ceased they wrote to me asking what LTV i waned. I went to the hassel of getting house valued and sent it off. Wrote back a while later saying as i had been on a higher LTV...

    Switching between AIB LTV bands

Yeah i tried moving between bands. Failed unfortunately. Waste of money on my part as had the approved auctioneer value the house etc. Sent off the paper work and got what was essentially a refusal letter a week later

Is switcher worth it if we have to reduce term?

Not meaning to start an argument Brendan but this advice is contradictory to your advice in the mortgage rates best buys thread. Dated 2/2/17 you wrote "EBS is now clearly the Best Buy If you are taking out a new mortgage or considering switching, you should apply directly to EBS. It's...

    Aib finance and leasing mortgage

Hi all apologies if this has been clarified before. I'm wondering why aib have, in effect, 2 mortgage providers. They have their own simply titled aib mortgage and a finance and leasing branch too. I, unfortunately fall into the f&l category. I say unfortunately because with the normal mortgage...

    Overpaying an AIB mortgage

Thanks for the reply. Spent last two days ringing bank of ireland. They've now come to the conclusion that the iban can not be added. I've (hopefully) worked around it by using revolut to transfer a test amount to the mortgage account (40 euro) if this goes through without issue I'll transfer...

    Overpaying an AIB mortgage

Hi just a query regarding overpaying on mortgage or transfering lump sum. I contacted aib re same and was told to transfer it to diff account, quoting my own account in the narrative. Is there a reason I can't just transfer directly to the account my direct debit goes to every month??

I can have a look at my statement if you like. I took out mortgage in may 09. The rate then was 3.24% on an Ltv of >80%
