Calling AIB customers who fixed before the latest fixed rate cuts in September 2020

I got mine in the post as well today and confirmed no break out fee involved. I just rang them to inform them that the turnaround to get this back is too short and the guy confirmed that i could email it to the address on the letter instead of posting it.

Hi Brendan, I'll give them a call in the afternoon and see what response i get. Thanks.

AIB the first to cut rates in response to Avant

Hi Brendan, I fixed for 3 years at 2.55% earlier this year. Would i have a leg to stand on to break from that and ask AIB to put me on the new 3 year rate of 2.45%? Regards

Key Post Tips for switching your mortgage

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I need to get this done so. Its just another expense that I didn't factor in when starting the switching process.

Key Post Tips for switching your mortgage

Hi, I'm in the process of switching my mortgage from AIB to UB and was informed last night by my solicitor that I will require a Certificate of Exemption as I had a small extension built in 2010. I was under the impression that you only needed this if you were selling the house. Can anyone...

AIB Fixed and Variable Rates No Longer Attractive

Has there been any update on whether AIB will start dropping rates anytime soon?? I'm in the very early stages on a possible switch to Ulster Bank from AIB so a drop in rates from AIB could save a lot of hassle.

Advice on Possible Switch to Ulster Bank

Hi RedOnion, Thanks so much for this info, especially that last bit as I was told by a colleague that I would have to switch everything to UB to avail of any of their rates. That makes the switch option much more desirable. The 2 year fixed option looks really good from my point of view as it...

Advice on Possible Switch to Ulster Bank

I’m considering switching from AIB to Ulster Bank as these new rates by UB are just too good to pass up, but I have some questions regarding this potential switch as I’m not too sure what would be the best option to try first so hopefully someone can help. My current mortgage LTV rate with AIB...

AIB is dropping its variable rates by 0.25%

That's fantastic, thanks again RedOnion. I've got more information in 20 minutes here than I have in 2 weeks with AIB.

AIB is dropping its variable rates by 0.25%

Thanks for the feedback RedOnion. One last query on this and please forgive my lack of knowledge on this but AIB just don't seem to want to answer my questions, but in the future if their LTV rates drop again, does the rate also move for existing customers that have signed up, e.g. I will sign...

AIB is dropping its variable rates by 0.25%

Hi, I got that letter as well, the other letter was one I received previously that was referring to my initial query about switching from the LTV to the SVR or a fixed rate, they completely ignored that query and just gave me this generic response about moving onto the new SVR in November...

AIB is dropping its variable rates by 0.25%

Hi all, Just as a follow on from my previous email above, I contacted AIB about what my options are if I were to sign up to their LTV rate of 2.95% and if I decided at a later date that I want to switch back to my SVR or a fixed rate. They sent out some generic letter about what my SVR will be...

AIB is dropping its variable rates by 0.25%

Hi Brendan, I am currently on AIB's SVR which will drop to 3.15% in November. However I am eligible for their 50% ->80% LTV rate of 2.95%. This looks like a much more attractive rate compared to their previous rate at this point. In your opinion do you see any downside for me in this instance...

Successfully got AIB to move me from a 3.3% to 3.1% variable mortgage rate.

Hi all, I did something similar lately and received 2 discounted offers from competitors of AIB. My existing rate is 3.4% variable and I have 2 offers of 3.1% from the others. I contacted AIB to inform them of this and that I would be leaving if AIB couldn't provide me with a similar rate. I...

Key Post Variable mortgage rates - best buys

Hi Brendan, My mortgage is about €258k with 24-25 years left. What's your opinion with these figures in mind. Also, do you know if many people have tried to negotiate with their existing mortgage providers and in general how successful they were??

Key Post Variable mortgage rates - best buys

Hi Brendan, I've recently looked at switching providers for my mortgage and decided to use my union recommended broker to try and get the best offer. I am currently with AIB on 3.4% variable but they have recommended KBC for a variable option of 3.1% and PTSB for a 1 year fixed option of 3.2%...

"If, as expected, AIB goes ahead and cuts rates by a further 50 basis points..."

Hi Brendan, Do you still think there is any chance of this additional cut in interests rates from AIB appearing before Christmas? Or have things changed since this news first broke? Regards

"Noonan to pressure banks to cut mortgage rates again"

So am i right in saying that Noonan is suggesting that AIB will follow up the recent SVR reduction of 0.25% by another drop in the rate or is he just confusing the issue by spouting off about the same 0.25% drop that they've already announced??

Are More Variable Rate Cuts On The Way

Hi All, With the recent news of some of the banks being massively back in profit and then yesterdays news of another cut in the ECB rate, what are the chances of further mortgage variable rate cuts in the near future?
