Below, I am trying to understand the pro rata payments as well. I found this which backs up what "S class" said.
Pro-rata pensions
Pro-rata pensions were introduced because some people were excluded from the social insurance system at particular times. A pro-rata pension means you get a...
Have you seen this.
"S Class" provided some good information.

This is exactly where I am coming from. But I was looking at it from the perspective of someone taking a low paying part-time public service job in their late 50's. They have 520 plus A contributions.
Could it be they will not get any payment from the single pension, if their entitlement...
Thanks for that.
I am thinking of a case where an individual joins the Single pension scheme late in life. Their annual single pension value is less then their contributory pension.
What happens then?
Is there a relationship between the single public service pension scheme and the state contributory pension.
For example, an the annual pension under the Single scheme is 40K. If the contributory was 10K, do you receive 40 in total, with only 30K being paid from the single scheme.
What happens...
Thanks for that info.
In my case I have 180 A stamps and have 40 years service in the public sector workers Defined Benefit pension scheme. I will be leaving my employment under a voluntary exit scheme at the end of October.and I will be 60 the following month.
I intend to find a job and earn...

Have you considered how your will get the money out of the AVC and how it will be taxed. I do not have all the answers, but can you take some of it as a tax free lump sum. What happens to the remaining amount.
Thanks for that. I have shown both Ex VAT and Inc VAT prices below for Yuno.. It may be useful to others.
24hr Urban
Ex VAT
Inc VAT
24Hr Unit Rate
30.60cent/kWh
33.35 cent/kWh
Urban Standing Charge
€242.87 Annually
€264.73 Annually
Are there any price reductions that have been announced by suppliers that have yet to come into effect. I am considering switching to Yuno with a unit rate of 30.60cent/kWh and an annual standing charge of €242.87 Annually. Both figures exclude VAT.
Is it worth chasing the full pension? If you have an average of 20 plus, is the difference between that a a full pension, a fiver a week.
Or am I misunderstanding the situation.
Sorry if I am not making my self clear. I appreciate the time you are all putting into this. Yesterday I did use "myaccount" to do what suggested (relax carry on). That is:
Once in the return click next till you get to the tab for tax credits and reliefs and go to the AVC field and click the...
Thanks again.
