Switching from managed SVR (MVR) -PTSB

Hi Sarenco, just reading the CBI rules FAQ briefly and it says The LTV and LTI limits do not apply to refinancing of a housing loan (i.e. switcher mortgages) or housing loans entered into in order to address arrears or pre arrears. That would seem to be at odds with what you indicate as I would...

Switching from managed SVR (MVR) -PTSB

Thanks Sarenco, touchy subject raising rents, could trigger a revolt with tenant and seeking this, that the other to be replaced, thus wiping out any gain. I know better the next lease what to include as I nearly got caught for the water charges. I am always cognisant that any rise only gives a...

Switching from managed SVR (MVR) -PTSB

Hopefully someone has the solution to this issue for me. We bought house A and it became our PPR for 6 years before we moved to House B which we currently reside in. We rent House A (at well below market to stable tenants) but it is on a managed SVR with PTSB of 3.7%. House B is on a low...

Dell Outlets awful exchange rate, anyway around it?

The address proof was for my credit card, the delivery address has to be in the UK (parcel motel). This extract is all they needed on that score

Dell Outlets awful exchange rate, anyway around it?

For my Dell laptop I used Parcel Motel and my my Irish CC. I had to verify my details though before they would send it. I remember sending through passport and some other detail and thinking my CC would let me down but there was no issue once details were confirmed. The delivery must be to a UK...

    Another General Election

Agree with Odyssey06, shear incompetence by FG and Labour on Irish Water is a big issue for me. I signed up when there was a discount for water use by children, that is now gone, I simply do not trust them. What did it for me was "Let's keep the recovery going", well it certainly is not here. I...

    Tyrrelstown debacle.... Impact on landlords?

Reason is that for most of us landlords the market is over regulated in favour of tenants. The interest relief is not 100%, there is now USC and PRSI on income regardless whether a profit is made. Throw in LPT and water charges (for tenant to pickup) then the reasons for me getting in the market...

FG mugged the middle class and never touched the banks.

One wonders if the government had dropped the water charges what the result would have been. No water protests, less legs for AAA to stand on, FG & Labour really did not see the wood for the trees and were in the end after just 5 years so out of touch with the way the electorate felt.

Amazing that there's not more objection to LPT

LPT and Water charges are a tax on breathing, even when one retires we will still have to pay for them unless they are eliminated. I have brought this directly to FG when they arrived on my door. We pay enough bloody taxes on everything else that should make up for it.

RTE Leaders Debate - Claire Byrne live - Monday 15th

Imagine if Mary Lou was there instead, Joan B would be dead and buried, the two hate each other. I am real worried about the next few years, our taxation rates (bands) for middle income earners are scandalous and coupled with high SVRs have squeezed the life out of the economy. There is...

    Retiring at 50

Has anyone looked at residency issues and being away from Ireland longer than 182 days. If one spends 5 months in Italy and another 2 or 3 months abroad, is it watched by revenue? What issues would one face?

Bin charges: Is there an industry regulator?

Hi AJ, They are bringing in the pay by weight in July but according to emails I have between me and AES they cannot indicate as yet the price per KG! If I were to go with the €144 service charge it would be €7 for each general waste bin lift. Will be looking to cancel and find an alternative...

Bin charges: Is there an industry regulator?

Waste is waste, Council to collect and bring to the transfer station. Currently service only here in Meath with AES Irl is 144 per year without a bin ever being collected. Licence to print money.

Key Post How much savings do you need to feel safe

Very much feel it will be the former that will be screwed. I see alot of people with far less in terms of household wage doing a lot better than myself and getting a lot of the benefits currently being handed out. However, if as I have, 2 rentals with hefty mortgages, investments and no...

    Moving away from Goodbody

Online service is or was €25. Waiting on the increase. Having been through BCP, Dolmen, Fexco and now GSB am getting tired of holding shares. That, charges and the CGT are real disincentives.
