Aer Lingus Credit card - pros and cons?

Worth checking out the T&Cs for the "free" flights. Appears you have to book 30 days in advance so that rules out any last minute booking! ii. Booking requests for Free Fares must be made no less than 30 days in advance of departure date and may be made up to 11 months prior to departure...

Damages to house as tenant vacate

Thanks again for the replies. Always good to get range of views and take other opinions onboard. As for allowing the dog, well we did agree given the length of time the tenant was in situ and without any issues. We thought it only fair to allow their children to have a pet. No regrets and we...

Damages to house as tenant vacate

Hi All, first thanks to all for taking the time to reply. There appears, however, to be a lot of assumptions in many of the replies e.g. no replacement of any furniture for 12 years. Where did you read that? A new suite was provided after 5 years….mainly due to the damage caused by their...

Damages to house as tenant vacate

Yes, full inventory provided beforehand and indeed as soon as 5hey inform us they were moving. We don’t expect every single item to be in situ but bigger items of furniture removed especially in the sitting room, makes a big difference to our out of pocket expenses.

Damages to house as tenant vacate

Hi We have a 3 bed house that we have rented to same tenants over the last 12 years under the HAP scheme. They have now been offered a council house so have just vacated the property. Upon inspection, we found they got rid of the sitting room furniture and all the beds plus there is extensive...

Does time in public service in EU count?

I know that jobs are usually advertised internally first and if the organisation believes they need someone with special skills, they then go outside to attract talent. However so many of the PS jobs have a note regarding starting at entry level salary scale. Very off-putting for those with...

Does time in public service in EU count?

O, that's really helpful Poundman. It wouldn't be worth my son in law's while applying if he has to start at the bottom. He's highly qualified and has several years experience, so not recognising those doesn't make sense. Thanks again.

Money Saving Tip Nobody Else Will Give You - Alicante Airport

Sounds good. I wonder though if the voucher is valid immediately. Some places provide discount vouchers e.g. Dunnes, but you can't use it immediately. Perhaps the airport one is different. Well spotted, Slim.

Does time in public service in EU count?

My son in law is currently employed in a public service job in Germany (10 years)and is considering applying for a similar position in ireland. However, all public service ads indicate he would start at the lowest entry salary. Does anyone know if his service in the PS in Germany is taken into...

    Lease or buy car

Thanks peemac for your reply. We only do about 5000 km a year so low mileage. I see this advice on Nifi “buy appreciating assets, lease depreciating assets”. Although this is coming from a leasing company, it does make sense I suppose. On their site a Skoda Karoq 1.5 over 36 months costs...

    Lease or buy car

We are driving 2012 Peugeot 3006 and thinking of either trading it in and buying a 2 year old car or perhaps this time go the leasing route. Has anyone experience leasing ..good or bad idea. Cost of a 2 year old car will be approx €25k which is a lot to fork out in one go. Although leasing...

    Switch to Airbandb

My friend has a key holder on the wall inside the porch and the person renting just needs the code to access it.

    Switch to Airbandb

My friend, who for years rented his house to long term tenants, decided earlier this year when the last tenants moved out, to only rent the house usingAirbandb. I understood he required planning permission to do so but he said that is not being enforced! Then I read in last week's Sunday Times...

    Tenant sub letting

Yes, makes a lot of sense. We are probably worrying too much over this. However I think the next lease will be more specific in relation to who occupies the property etc.

    Tenant sub letting

Just to clarify, as the original poster, we have no difficulty with the right of our tenant to have someone stay over. He is perfectly entitled to do so. The difficulty arises with a permanent move in by another when we have neither been informed or given the chance to carry out the normal...

Replacing or refurbishing a gravel driveway?

You can buy the paint in any DIY shop like Woodies. However I'm told you can buy even better paint online from a German company that contains a substance that means the Paint will adhere better and lasts longer. Afraid I don't have the name to hand but perhaps if you Google it, you will find it.

Replacing or refurbishing a gravel driveway?

Tarmac is your only man. we had ours done about 10 yrs ago and we use black tarmac paint every few years to give it new life. Turns out like a new driveway. Important to get good tarmac in the beginning.

    Tenant sub letting

Despite what was said here, there is no "elephant in the room"!! We have been charging the low rent for a long time now and are well aware the we can only increase it by 2%. That's the law and that's what we go by. Our concern has always been to ensure we get the right people to take on the...

    Tenant sub letting

Thanks for all the advice. We visited the tenant and explained that he needs our permission to have someone stay for a long period. He appears not to have understood this. We try to be reasonable given the dire housing situation so we've asked to meet the friend and do some background checks on...
