Key Post I have an AIB tracker – should I consider fixing?

Hi there, I have just had a home valuation done in order to get a better rate from AIB as an existing customer. I have a split mortgage on my home with AIB. One "half" (mortgage) is a tracker (+1.1% margin). I owe €82,500 on the tracker "half" and about €77k on the other variable mortgage...

    2-4 year fixed options

Buying a new home and have approval in principle from BOI for around €300k via a broker with an estate agent. We are looking to fix for 2-4 years. Rates have really gone up in the last 3 months. Our LTV is under 70% / A2 BER. Was looking at a Cashback offer from BOI for a 2yr fixed with 2% back...

AIB We have won the Prevailing Rate issue

Well done to all who continued to pursue AIB and the appeals panel and especially to Brendan who helped to facilitate and guide us on the matter with such patience and skill.

AIB Has anyone received a 3rd response from AIB?

I am in the same boat. I've had four or five identical letters at this stage saying that my appeal "is still receiving attention and is currently with the Panel as it continues its deliberations." I would guess they are waiting on the Ombudsman too and that this is some sort of intentional...

AIB Alternative: How to respond to AIB's 2nd response to Appeals Panel

Hi Lainey, In their last response to me, they attributed a small quote to me which on re-reading my own previous submission I did not actually say. The text in question was part of the generic response that was suggested here but I did not use that particular section. As you have pointed out...

AIB How to respond to AIB's 2nd response to Appeals Panel

I also received largely the same reply at the end of last week (to my second letter). I have just called BDO today to request permission to respond. They will send me out confirmation of this in writing by the end of the week they said. I'm very grateful once again to Brendan for the draft...

AIB "I just got a letter from AIB offering me €1,615 and a tracker at 3.32%. What should I do?"

How long were people who requested one waiting for the appeals pack to arrive? I called AIB a week ago to request one and have not received it yet. >>>update: it just landed through the letterbox!

AIB Aib half fixed half tracker

Yes I did get the compensation. I would have to check the tracker rate but I think it's 1.1%.

AIB Aib half fixed half tracker

So are people pursuing this on an individual level? Is that the way to go if the group action is not going ahead? I had a 3 year fixed taken out in 2006/07 on half my mortage and a tracker on the other 50%. They are dealt with as two separate mortgages I believe. When the 3 year fixed portion...

AIB "I just got a letter from AIB offering me €1,615 and a tracker at 3.32%. What should I do?"

Yes, I agree. I was also wondering if the group action is going ahead or where do things stand at the moment?

AIB "I just got a letter from AIB offering me €1,615 and a tracker at 3.32%. What should I do?"

I emailed the email address that was above (although I don't see it now??) but have not heard anything. Is this case with a group going ahead?

AIB "I just got a letter from AIB offering me €1,615 and a tracker at 3.32%. What should I do?"

I have also received this letter (about ten days ago). Took out a mortgage in late 2006, fixed for three years. Will send on my details to bungaro by email. I would definitely like to follow this up. It doesn't appear to be a reasonable settlement.

    Joining group pension at 65

Thanks again Steven. I am sorry but what is the advantage of an AMRF over other options. Also if his state pension + income (annuity) from his BOI Life comes to more than €12,700 pa, what are his choices? Also, I have seen €18,000 mentioned elsewhere as a threshold for this... I am still...

    Joining group pension at 65

Thanks Steven. When you say maximise his tax free lump sum...is there anywhere I can read the rules around this? Is it a straightforward case of investing 40% (max allowed) of his salary into the plan as an AVC? Can he do the same for the 2014 tax year retroactively? Yes I think you may be...

    Joining group pension at 65

I will try to make this as brief as I can. My father was 65 last year. Even though he has been in the same job for around 30 years, up until a few years ago, he was self-employed for tax purposes and didn't have any proper pension rights through his employer. Last year he was invited to join a...

Joining a group scheme pension at 64+

Thanks Stephen, that does help clarify things and based on your info, I am not sure how wise it would be for him to pursue this course. I don't understand what is meant by allocation rate or giving all members the same allocation rate? Also, where else would the €2k a month (or €1k a month)...

Joining a group scheme pension at 64+

My father is 65 in September. For the first time in his life, he was enrolled in a pension plan (group scheme) this year in March with the company paying 2.9% of his salary into it. Prior to this he was in the same job but classed as self-employed (fishing industry). He intends to continue...
