    Football without Fans

Yeah, a guy I worked with used to work for Sky. They’ve special buttons for special events and crowd reactions. Like a “ooooohhhhhhaaaawwwww” when the ball goes over the bar by a fraction.

Guinness cans and the floating widget issue.

I drink draught Guinness and bottled Guinness. The canned stuff doesn’t hold candlelight to either.

    Simulating the US Election

“Hope” was Obama. “Great” is Trump’s offering. It always is. It’s head wrecking. Do you remember 2016? Matt Cooper took his entire Today FM Last Word team over to New York on a junket and did a live broadcast from New York to celebrate Hilary Clinton’s historic win... The Irish media love to...

    Simulating the US Election

And there is the Democrats refusal to see the GFA/BA tampered with.

    Simulating the US Election

Bear in mind that Trump was ahead in the polls all the time until the Covid crisis. His handling of Covid and the slump in the economy as a result have flipped the polls. Only in the last few weeks is rural America being hit by Covid. Covid has had one huge positive this year so far; reduced...

Trump or Biden, who will win

Yeah, lots of anomalies in the EC markets. €770k matched on Trump’s ECs whereas €280k matched on Biden’s.

Trump or Biden, who will win

Gee-gees, golf and GAA. Very little outside of those three. I would say the bands anomaly is down to the particular ECs of the swing states. Florida is 29, that’s an entire band. Whereas most of the other swing states are around a dozen each (IIRC?). I’ll have a closer look at BetFair.

Trump or Biden, who will win

I cast my ballot three weeks ago or so. I think Biden will win. In the low 300s EC votes.

Trump or Biden, who will win

I think it was 78,000 votes in three counties (in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania) swing it for him.

Trump or Biden, who will win

Brexit was about 8/1 when the polls were closing. A value bet and a good bet are two entirely different things.

is it possible to service a oil fire boiler yourself?

My father used to do it all the time. All the time, as in, once or twice a year. Messy job, pungent smell afterwards for days. And these strange conical bits of floating oil soot around afterward. How “handy” are you? If you’re the handy sort and this is the next thing step up for you, go...

    Traditional Halloween Games Please.

I note that the last one, the barm brack, has not listed the matchstick. Cancel culture in these PC times, I s’pose.

Eating protein is necessary for everyone. Flying isn’t.

Alas, that’ll breach the LwC19 L5 restrictions. Unless you’ve a grave by your doorstep?

Choose one to be “resolved”: Brexit, Covid or Trump.

I doubt it. I’d put his election to rise of populism, the anti-establishment vote, the TV personality appeal. If he gets in this time, I don’t know what to put it down to.

Choose one to be “resolved”: Brexit, Covid or Trump.

One of his few achievements, not going to war. It didn’t do Jimmy Carter any good though. I think public opinion at the time was that he should have stood up to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, and not doing so swung people towards Ronald Reagan. Having said that, RR was extremely popular...

Has the NCT got tougher recently?

I failed an NCT a good few years ago due to human error. It was in Deansgrange and I’d a late booking. The tester explained that the red indication light doesn’t come on when the fog lamp knob is pulled out. He said it failed but the retest would be visual only. As I drove home I was thinking...

FTB - Buy new or secondhand?

I was in a similar situation to you in the mid-2000s. In terms of financial matters, FTB incentives, Stamp Duty, I knew it all back then. Alas, I don’t know anything about these matters now. What type of accommodation do you live in at present? House-share or on your tod? Apartment or house...
