    Ticker for Diesel?

You could maybe talk to importers, like local oil companies. They might know the price of raw diesel before import duty and taxes are added on. Actually, the price of green diesel is pretty much tax free I think, so that might help you. Peadar

    Ticker for Diesel?

Hi, I don't think there is a ticker for Diesel as such. The price of diesel in Ireland is affected by many inputs, tax, import duty making up a big portion of it, so often the price of diesel in ireland might rise without the underlying cost of the oil itself rising. There is a ticker for...

Private A&E - how am I referred from there?

If it's not an emergency, you should just go to your GP. If he/she thinks it needs an X-ray they will refer you to A & E. Once your referred from a GP you don't have to pay the A & E fee. People should not look at the A & E as their first port of call unless it's an emergency and your usually...

Rent out principal private residence for a period, do you have to tell the bank?

Hi, You definitely loose your Mortgage Interest Relief. Make sure you let the revenue know that it's not your primary residence. I don't think you should tell the bank, just make sure your house insurance is changed to a rental property insurance, otherwise your insurance will be invalid...

Should we pay lump sum off mortgage/reduce term

Hi Kool, If you are thinking of building a house in the next year or two and if you have to borrow money for the build then you would be mad to pay off any of your current mortgage now. Your on a tracker rate of .95% above ECB. If you pay off that money now you may have to borrow at a much...

If I make a loss on my rental income, do I have to pay tax?

You don't calculate if you make a rental profit or loss based on your mortgage payment. You calculate it based on the interest part of your mortgage payment. E.g. Rent 1500 Mortgage 1800 Mortgage Interest 1400. Mortgage Interest x 75% = 1050. Mortgage Principal 400. Rental Profit: 450...

    Rent Treadmill for home use

My wife tried it. 150 euros for 3 months, treadmill was gym quality. She actually used it a lot, maybe because I was grumbling so much about the cost of it. It's probably a good idea if your thinking of buying an expensive one, rent one first, if you make use of it, then you can think of...

    skipbags

If the bag was picked up free somewhere, then you have no contract with Panda, so you can probably do what you want, in my opinion. If you paid for the bag you might have a contract, though I can't see what Panda can do anyway. Peadar

    Dublin to Shannon Town

Best way is train to Limerick Station and then bus to Shannon Airport from the Station. Train should take 2 hours approx and 30 minutes for bus to airport. Leave plenty of time in case you miss a bus or there is delays. All the buses going to Shannon generally go the airport. Limerick...

Why you shouldn't buy shares in one company

Stockbrokers would only equate to bookies in the above analogy. He is saying the whole economy not just the middlemen(bookies, stockbrokers) or the individual companies(horses) I think it's a good analogy, buy a share of the world economy, as economic activity grows, your stake grow too...

    Section 23

Hi Maximus, No you can't claim anything back at the end of the year. You don't make enough rental profit to make use of your Section 23 tax status, why should you be entitled to anything back? You should still do a rental return each year and show the loss you are making, thus one year in...

Renting a Property - The Options (Rent a Room versus Fully Declare)

I think Option A is also dodgy, as he is not living in the house. Rent a room is only for your Primary residence. Whether you want to go down that route or not is up to you. Option B makes most sense, stays on the right side of the revenue, will go a long way towards paying the mortgage and I...

Is Limerick as bad as they say?

Whether to invest in property at all is one question. In relation to Limerick, talk to people who live here but are from different parts of the country. Most of these people will tell you that Limerick is a lovely place to live, no different to most large towns and cities in Ireland. Peadar

Margarita Island, off the north-eastern coast of Venezuela.

You will have to pay Income Tax in Ireland on the rent received as long as you remain resident in Ireland. This will be at the marginal rate of 20% or 41% depending on your current income. Car Insurance for Automatic car.

Would people not see it as an unexpected perk to get a car with automatic gearbox in a normal spec car? A friend once had a Focus with an automatic gearbox and he loved it and had no problem selling it on. As to the OP, I don't think there would be any difference in insurance.
