    Working from home clarified

Returning to this having been clarified - can anyone advise whereabouts in Form 11 one is supposed to claim this? I can only find details on the Revenue site about putting it under Other PAYE Expenses for MyAccount, but nothing about how to claim it if you have income other than your main PAYE...

    Moving to uk

Hi Babby, I can only answer a few of your questions, but CurrencyFair are good for transferring money internationally, but you'd need to have your sterling account already set up. Shiply are good for moving stuff - you specify what you want to move, where from, where to and couriers bid on it...

Solicitor appointed himself as executor to my mother's will

Secretaries are not trained lawyers and as such are prohibited from giving legal advice. Anyone in my practice doing so would be reprimanded. Redraft the will

Solicitor appointed himself as executor to my mother's will

Have it removed if possible. The lawyer is simply setting themselves for administration fees of between 5 to 10k. If it is not your mother's last wish that this lawyer should be her executor, then she should make a new will repudiating all former wills.

Questions on refund of contributions on leaving pension scheme

Thank you both for your input. It was the broker who told me I needed an actuarial cert, so it seems they misinformed me. I think that as I cannot get the tax relief on putting the money into my PRSA, either for last year, when I had an income, nor for this year when I don't, I may as well keep...

Questions on refund of contributions on leaving pension scheme

I left my private sector job near the end of 2010 with 22 months' contributions and AVCs made to the company's defined contributions pension scheme. I had had a PRSA before that, but stopped contributing to it when I joined the company pension scheme. As I have not moved to another job, I...

Moved to UK - keep up Irish health insurance?

Thanks, Bear. I hadn't actually thought of it as lying to my insurer, but of course, it would be, so that would indeed not be advisable. For anyone else who might find themselves in this situation, here's what I learned from the Irish insurers. For all providers: - To claim against health...

Moved to UK - keep up Irish health insurance?

My husband, baby and I are currently covered by my employer's health insurance scheme in Ireland. I am nearing the end of my maternity leave and will soon be resigning my job - we have already moved to England, as my husband cannot find work in Ireland, but has no problem getting work here. I do...

    CRH Rights Issue explained

Did anyone come up with an example for working out how to calculate a gain/loss to be declared for tax when the rights were sold and a premium payment awarded instead? It's nearly Form 11 time...

    selling 2nd hand books

Wherever you take them, here's a tip: only bring in a few at a time. A friend of mine used to exchange books for credit in Vibes & Scribes in Cork, but found she got a better deal per book when bringing in only four books for exchange than say, a stack of twelve books.

    LABrokers

I took out a PRSA through them a few months ago. They sent all the documentation promptly and set everything up with no hassle at all. I'm happy to recommend them.

TV license - need advice please

NeonGlow, are you in the UK? You mention pounds, rather than euro. If you're in the UK, please note that this is an Irish site, so any advice you receive here will relate to Irish TV licensing. Please clarify this.

    lazer eye surgery -Best prices

Don't forget the UK. I got mine done in Belfast a few years ago for much less than any RoI clinic was charging. The service there was impeccable, too. I can't recommend the clinic itself, as it's been taken over since then, but really, about 10% or so of people will have problems of one kind or...

How do I clean Newbridge Silverware Jewellery?

Get a basin. Cover the bottom with tin foil. Add a handful of bread soda. Pour on boiling water & drop the item(s) into the bowl immediately, while the water is still fizzing. Take them out again, rinse and dry them. Dead easy!

    Laser Hair Removal.

Hi sparkle, I believe that BHBC used IPL, but it was effective and I was happy with the results I got there. The prices varied (with up to 6-week gaps between treatments, a course can take several months and I remember them having cheap post-Christmas specials) and it was a couple of years ago...

Does anyone know of anywhere else (in the Cork city area) that sells Sushi?

One of the fish stalls in the English market used to do it and may still do. They mostly have (very good quality) smoked fish and fish pates, rather than the raw fish, at this particular stall. It was good sushi, too.
