Close Company Surcharge - Clarification on Distributable Trading Income

Thanks, I didn't include distributions as I don't see any point in paying dividends. My concern was that director salaries were not included as distributions, which someone on here stated in another thread. This seemed very odd to me all right. Great, I'm happy with the investment side of it...

Close Company Surcharge - Clarification on Distributable Trading Income

Hi, I want to ensure compliance with this tax and need some clarity on the definition of distributable trading income. Specifically, is it before or after director salaries. As a simplified example: If a company has a turnover of 100k General expenses of 15k Staff salaries of 20k Director...

Extra payments to an Ebs variable mortgage.

I haven't seen any concrete evidence that they will allow withdrawal of overpayments. I wouldn't advise making any overpayments that you might potentially need to redraw without written confirmation from EBS that it will be allowed.

Don't know where to start...low income and large arrears

@Setanta12, I agree wholeheartedly. I think it's great that we have a social welfare system that supports people who fall on hard times. However this isn't that type of case in my opinion. This person has consciously chosen to have additional children in the full knowledge that she didn't have...

Don't know where to start...low income and large arrears

Fair point galwaypat but a bit controversial. Hard to have much sympathy with the OPs situation. She ran into financial difficulty after having one child and then decided that the best course of action was to pump out 3 more. Meanwhile prudent young couples are scrimping and saving to buy...

Don't know where to start...low income and large arrears

Why have you continued to have children when you can't even afford to pay your mortgage? Surely this is very irresponsible, and you are expecting the taxpayer to pick up the tab for your lifestyle indefinitely. Your partner's credit rating is irrelevant as nobody will lend him anything on his...

Extra payments to an Ebs variable mortgage.

Yes, that's correct you will be refunded the interest on the credit balance on your account in the interim period. This is as one would expect but is just as well because they can be very slow in recalculating the repayment amount. I need to remind them myself about my latest additional payment...

Should I pay a lump sum off my mortgage?

Its the €5000 limit that applies, AIB will charge you for every individual transaction, bless them. Leave your mortgage term the same and just ask them to reduce the repayment amount, its the best strategy as it minimises your repayment amount. You can always make extra repayments any time you...

Just entered arrears on Buy to Let Opinions welcome

Just sell the investment property and convert the 36k shortfall to an unsecured loan. The repayment on the €36k remaining NE will only be approx €290 per month, improving your situation by approximately €550 per month. It will also relieve you of all the hassle of being a landlord. No point in...

Advice on how much of a mortgage to get

I don't doubt that you or couples like you can afford to pay for these houses, clearly you can. I'd just question the whole scenario. The house you're buying is basically going to be a shack like all the homes built in that era, if it were to be built today to it's current condition it might...

Advice on how much of a mortgage to get

Absolute insanity IMHO. At current rates you're looking at approximately €1900 a month in interest payments alone on that kind on lending. Now add to that €80 a month in property taxes and all the other associated costs of home ownership - TV license, bin charges, insurance, maintenance etc and...

Whether to put savings agains mortgage or improvements work on the property?

I couldn't agree more. Lending should be advertised by APR only and deposits by CAR only. On the deposit side, banks like to advertise 5% gross after 2 years and that kind of stuff, it makes it very difficult for the average person to compare like with like. Surely this is the kind of thing that...

Repossession order on house I no longer own

You've nothing to worry about, the letter is probably on foot of an instruction months ago to somebody that hasn't been kept in the loop. Further more, not to be stating the obvious but a solicitors letter is just that - a letter, it has no legal standing whatsoever. A few phone calls should...

Extra payments to an Ebs variable mortgage.

No impact on the direct debit unless you instruct them to revise the repayment amount or there is a change in TRS or interest rates.

Extra payments to an Ebs variable mortgage.

Ive done this a lot, just transferring extra payments in via online banking. Basically the overpayment just sits there as a credit on the account reducing the capital amount owed until you instruct them how to handle the overpayment. I used to drop in a letter but the branch accepted my...

Would you buy a house that has had pyrite but been fixed now?

You'll need to engage a structural engineer to review any remedial measures which have been completed on the house. Presumably the builder has used a chartered structural engineer to certify that the house is "pyrite free" - presumably this means it has been underpinned or whatever. The builder...
