Investment strategy for 500k leftover cash after forever home purchase

I presume the land is zoned for residential development. Is it serviced by a foul sewer?

Will child benefit be backdated for a child already over 18?

From the article you linked 'The payment will extend to children whose 19th birthday falls in May – but someone born on April 30 will miss out, as it is not a payment in arrears.'

    Planners not fulfilling planning

Does the developer not have to lodge a bond with the Planning authority? I thought this bond isn't to be released until all works are completed in accordance with the grant of planning?

Islamic finance and buying a home

I thought there was an exception made for a mortgage i.e. that was the only loan allowed. Maybe that’s the workaround you’re referring to that he doesn’t agree with.

    Zoom interview in car, help!

It wouldn't impact them as long as you didn't cover the camera lens. Might impact you slightly but shouldn't be too bad.

Can the landlord charge the tenants apartment management fees?

I might be wrong but what I think the OP is asking is can they charge a (new) tenant management fees on top of the maximum allowable rent increase.

    Interesting data on cyclists' injuries

I would imagine a lot of the accidents not involving other vehicles are also not commuter related. They are more likely to be men (mostly) on weekend cycling where much higher speeds are involved.

I'd expect that you would also need a letter of consent from the current owners to include in the planning application.

Using N26 or Revolut in US

I used Revolut last year on a trip to the states. The only issue we had was in relation to adding a tip at restaurants. I'd be interested in the responses to this also. We have an oil fired boiler. In the summer we turn it on for an hour in the mornings but with all the thermostats turned down. Not sure if this is the most efficient way of doing it.

Letting sibling live in inherited house

The will could also be structured in such a way that the OPs sister is entitled to live in the house until her death where it then passes to the OP. This could be via a Life Interest or Right To Reside. See link for additional info. https://ipoa.ie/life-interest-v-right-to-reside/

Rats nesting in a vacant property

You should request that the management company get in the likes of rentokil or similar to deal with the problem. They should be able to deal with them without risk to pets or other wildlife.

    ESRI Universal Basic Income.....Bonkers

I wonder would the labour supply fall as has been suggested. The current welfare system is also a disincentive to work for some as they would lose a lot of benefits by taking on a job so it may not be worth it. Under the UBI as I understand it they would retain the basic income so that risk is...
