Annual leave on Fas (SOLAS) traineeship

I think trainees can seek 2 weeks off without it affecting their payment or continuence. There are breaks at Christmas and Easter? in fairness it would be tough for the tutors to manage lesson plans with trainees taking a different 4 weeks off each.

No income, no savings, but refused welfare

AND a FAS course, and a Springboard course, and his fees, and most likely JSA when he finishes his course, as he has conveniently exhausted his means. Really, the sense of entitlement, and the double standards, how on earth is this person 'more deserving', sounds workshy to me?

No income, no savings, but refused welfare

they should only have been eligible for it for the HDip element. Im shocked the college complied with this tbh. Other than a part time job, which he may not want to get so near his finals, he could try the Student Assistance fund in the college.

No income, no savings, but refused welfare

He seems to have put very little planning or thought into this. You cant get a grant or BTEA for a Masters. Has he looked for a part time job, that's how most post grad students support themselves.

    Childminders are now Chargeable Persons

Bringing it into line with the rent a room scheme. The manufactured outrage out there is nauseating. If you want a regulated childcare system, someone has to grapple with the fact in Ireland the vast majority of children are minded in uninspected, unregulated, uninsured, unvetted environments...

    Childminders are now Chargeable Persons

This was the case from the introduction of the relief.

Not in arrears, paying mortgage but really struggling...

I know you feel boxed into a corner, and it is heart-breaking that you have had to put plans on hold and both work just in order to stand still. The days of the public sector being cushy jobs are gone, certainly for those on the lower grades, you are right, there will be no pay rises or...

Spanish or French as a foreign language

It is generally perceived that Spanish is an easier honour at Leaving Cert level. 83% of those who sit the paper achieve an honour, as opposed to 75% who sit French.

Buying an investment property jointly with my son

I would tend to agree, he is young, just out of college and starting his career. Now is not the time for him to buy an investment property, he might want to head off for a year, go back and do a masters, he might meet someone and want to buy jointly. Tying himself to this investment and the...

    Website for listing freebies

I find those sites, particularly Jumbletown full of time wasters or increasingly professional resellers. If you are on Facebook, most towns or areas have a buy and sell page which i have found much better.

Analysing St. Jarlath's Credit Union and St Columba's

Perhaps the Credit Union model simply isn't suited to areas of affluence. I would argue they work much better in areas where the Common Bond area is mixed, such as provincial towns or rural areas, where there is a cohort of both savers and borrowers.

Unfair dismissal settled and employer reference provided

Employers would always seek a verbal reference if possible. A lot to be gleaned from tone, hesitancies etc.

    Paying somebody cash

Childminder relationships with their mindee parents break down very frequently, just go over to rollercoaster or mumsnet and see the multiple threads. A childminder wise to 'the system' like your applicant could quite easily get you in big trouble should this happen. I think you would be crazy...

    Nanny Broke Contract

What does it matter? its not as if OP will want to enforce it, or seek compensation for breach of contract from someone on a minimum wage job. To me, she sounds like a good nanny, who was offered more to stay with the current family, and just hasnt got the guts to tell you.

Courses available after parenting for 2 years

If your OH is not working full time, and you are seeking to reenter the work force...sign on. Even if you only get €5 a week, even if it means engagement and signing jobseeking compacts, not doing so locks you out of training. In theorey, if a course is not filled with those on the live...

Supplementary Benefit between 60 and 66.

jobSeekers Benefit, and after that runs out JobSeekers Allowance. The Social Welfare Bill states that those aged over 62 will only have to sign on once a year, will get payment into their bank and will not be subject to Activation measures (ie will be left alone). I cant see them hounding a 60...

    Danske Bank to Shut Down

Transferring current account and credit card to PTSB, I have to deal with 2 separate sections, send in 2 sets of ID etc. You would think they would deploy people to deal with switchers with the entire suite of products. This is such a pain!
