I asked them the same Brendan and got the same response about affordability etc, again missing the point. Do you actually need to inform them that you are resigning ?

    Chartered Accountants & CPA Merger

To be honest, I hadn't given much thought to this before reading through some of the comments and information provided in the various posts. I think it is scandalous when you look at the costs it is taking to run the CAI. My own situation is that I am looking at retirement probably next year and...

    Mileage expenses

We are a small company where mileage is paid to 2/3 employees. Up to now we have been paying a flat rate of 47 cent per km. However, with the new ERR now in operation, we want to tighten up on this area and want to make sure we are complying with taxation rules. The Revenue guidelines say any...

Reporting Spanish rental income on Irish return

Directors fees for a non resident director

One of our directors (not a shareholder) is an Irish national but resides in S. Africa. He receives no salary or other income from the company but it is being discussed that he should receive directors fees. If this happens, what would the level of deductions be in respect of Paye/Prsi, USC etc ?

    Taxation of Dividends

My understanding if you receive a dividend from an Irish company is that it is taxable at your marginal rate and it is subject to PRSI and USC. Is that correct ?

Is now the time to purchase a holiday home abroad?

We bought an apartment in Portugal in 2013 not specifically as an investment but because we loved the area and had stayed in the complex on numerous occasions and had decided that if the opportunity ever arose to buy, we would. We rent it out to the complex for a set annual rent amount based on...
