Why aren't all credit unions doing current accounts ?

Do you think the an post current account is in the same boat, low take up/losing money ?

Why aren't all credit unions doing current accounts ?

Is it loss making? Have any figures been published about the total take up so far? The main reasons given for credit unions going into the current account business was the withdrawal of Ulster Bank as well as BOI and AIB closing branches around the country. The amount of people who ever switch...

Why aren't all credit unions doing current accounts ?

I've asked a couple of Tellers but they just said "maybe someday"... What i meant is I don't know who's actually providing the product, I presume it's a similar set-up to the an post credit card that's really advent card using the Anpost label.

Why aren't all credit unions doing current accounts ?

My local one hasn't joined in yet. I think it's a shame because I think lots of older people would love to do their everyday banking at the local cu office. I don't know the ins and outs of it, I presume that it's some sort of white label product? www.currentaccount.ie

Government approves legislation to provide for temporary stay on tenancy terminations

I hope somebody challenges this in the high court but the fear of been labelled "far right" might put landlords off taking a challenge.

    An Post current account

There is something that a lot of people don't understand about the an post current account, apart from loging/withdrawing cash/cheques, post office counter staff have absolutely nothing to do with the account, it's a UK based white label product. if something goes wrong like missing money etc...

    3 money card leaving Ireland

I think the EU money laundering regulations of the past few years has been the death warrant for this kind of product. You needed as many documents in the end as opening a real bank account.

I don't know what a current account is Joe

Brendan's complaint about the Joe Duffy Show and Life loans came up recently but something that I heard on the show a few months ago was worse imo. A women who opened an anpost smart account 2 years ago and forgot about it then decided to put a few euro into it to "save for Christmas" , she was...

AIB & BOI getting out of retail ATMs

I strongly disagree "people aren't using them". It's very true about other European countries but there's not a day that goes by that I don't see people here using ATMs. In contrast I was in another EU country before Xmas and ATMs looked as dormant as public pay phones.

AIB & BOI getting out of retail ATMs

All true, but I often see people down the local costcutter taking 20€ out of the ATM with their visa debit and going to the till to pay for two pizzas and a bottle of wine when they could just tap. Just seems to be a habit thing.

AIB & BOI getting out of retail ATMs

That was current account ATM only cards they got rid off. The demand deposit savings account ones are still around. Very recent Thread here about them on boards dot ie https://touch.boards.ie/thread/2058041461/1/#post112124105

AIB & BOI getting out of retail ATMs

tbh if someone has a Visa/MasterCard or equivalent is there any reason to use an ATM at all ? Places that don't take cards and tap are getting very rare. This will only effect folk who use cash out of habit and as someone mentioned on boards.ie, what about those BOI On demand savings account...

AIB & BOI getting out of retail ATMs

It was reported in the independent that boi could get over 20 million from euronet for their stock, why? Euronet machines are already poping up in small retailers, spar in Thurles got a euronet machine put in recently. Couldn't the merchant just ditch their boi machine and go with euronet instead ?

AIB & BOI getting out of retail ATMs

How long will it take before we see all the AIB & BOI machines in shops replaced with euronet machines ? Also who will still use these machines? Why pay €3.99 to take out €20 when you could just get cashback at the till...

    An post smart account

I thought the whole idea of the an post smart account was that so people who still wanted to do traditional bricks and mortar banking could do so in their local po? An elderly neighbor of mine lost his an post MasterCard, went to his local po and was told nothing to do with us, you have to phone...

    Customs opening parcel from Scotland

I got a parcel of pop tarts from the uk in the post today which had opened by customs tape on it. I presume that the only reason customs would open a package from within the EU would be to look for drugs?? ? What is it about the look of my parcel that would have inspired some official to open...

    Campaign to Save RTE longwave

The campaign has been successful , however it's going to have to close for 10 weeks for maintenance work so presumably listeners will go elsewhere now anyway. http://www.hildegarde.ie/longwave-radio-to-continue-for-the-benefit-of-diaspora-naughton/
