Spain Car Hire and Booster Seats

Looked at everyone really. Was hoping to go with one of the more reputable companies (Hertz/Avis/Europcar etc) but they are all looking for around €70 for a babyseat. Doyouspain looks like it could be a winner.

Spain Car Hire and Booster Seats

Thanks demoivre, that looks like a very competitive site price wise and only €36 per child seat. Have you personally used this company? I have heard there are alot of cowboys in Spanish car hire business and don't want to end up with a lemon! Thanks Bonafide, thats a great suggestion but my...

    Taxis in Cairo Airport

Cairo Airport is a pretty hectic and chaotic place especially in the arrivals area and there are no shortage of rip off merchants around. Only real advice is to agree on a price before getting in the taxi. I haven't been there in a while but IIRC there are car hire/taxi desks in the arrival...

Spain Car Hire and Booster Seats

Heading to Murcia at the end of September and have been looking at car hire. Prices seem fairly keen with most providers but the problem is we will need two baby/booster seats and most companies appear to be charging aound €10 per day per seat which adds €140 to the price. It seems a bit much...

Help me choose a medium sized car

Ah thats slightly different. Plus it's slightly strange that they only offer it to 2007 and older cars, i.e. those that are out of warranty. They know that those with newer cars under warranty will get them serviced at the main dealer anyway.

Help me choose a medium sized car

Do you mind me asking where you got a VW main dealer service for €99? I'm not doubting you but my last (minor) service was alot more albeit a different engine. (1.4TSI)

Help me choose a medium sized car

Focus would be the choice it seems just ahead of the Golf because it is newer, will be cheaper to own and should hold its value reasonably well. I have a 2008 Golf (petrol) and I love it but servicing can be on the high side at a main dealer. The interior is also nicer than a Focus but both...

Motor tax- engine size v emissions basis- 2008 car

[broken link removed] According to this CO2 emmisions are 177 therefore annual road tax of €630. It might be better/greener but it appears its not so cheap to tax!

Motor tax- engine size v emissions basis- 2008 car

Is it a S40 1.8F? If so it appears it's not so environmentally friendly with CO2 emmisions of 177 meaning annual road tax of €630. Based on engine size tax would be €551.

Motor tax- engine size v emissions basis- 2008 car

When the tax was first renewed the owner would have been given the option to tax on engine size or CO2 whichever was the cheapest. Therefore if you are still paying on engine size it should be because its cheaper for you. Whats the car btw?

Is it possible for my pregnant non EU Partner to move to Ireland ?Fatherly options ?

OK I have some experience in this field so I will try to answer as many questions as I can. You don't say what nationality your girlfriend is? Does she require a visa? She can enter (assuming she gets a visa if necessary) and reside here but not as a tourist. She would be registered as your...

change car to reduce motoring cost

How much were you planning to spend on a replacement? On the safety front most modern cars even superminis would probably perform better than yours in a crash so I wouldn't have too many worries on that front. The insurance is not going to vary hugely no matter what you drive so you should...

    Petrol or Diesel

To be honest you'll be hard pressed to find a petrol version of most with the exception of the Honda. There are a few petrol Ravs around buy having used one for a month and having 2 small children I would definately not recommend. There is just no space. The Honda is probably the best option...

What car to buy for 30 000?

Assuming babies/dogs etc aren't an issue I'd be looking at something like this; I would definately have a look at the mainland UK as there is a vast choice of well equipped low mileage cars over there and if you buy a low emmissions model the VRT is very manageable. Personally I have gone...

Flying to NZ and want to break the journey, how to book flights?

Have you tried booking with a travel agent. They are often better at this type of thing where an overnight stopover is required. I have used Club Travel and find them to be very efficient and competitive pricewise to booking directly. www.clubtravel.ie No connection to them just a satisfied...

A mobile with 2 SIM Cards?

Hi all, A friend swears that a friend of his has a mobile that can carry 2 sim cards. Apologies if this is a stupid question but has anyone heard of this? I'm interested as I have to carry a mobile for work but also carry my own...don't ask! To have one mobile for both would be ideal. Thanks

Golf GT Sport TSI 1.4 v Honda Civic Type S .. owner experiences!

Yes as far as I know its a turbo only but you can't really tell when the turbo kicks in. Thats IMHO is a good thing. The power delivery is smooth and there is no turbo lag. However if I was looking for a performance car I would look elsewhere. I like golfs and I just wanted one that was...

Golf GT Sport TSI 1.4 v Honda Civic Type S .. owner experiences!

Which version are you looking at? I have the 122BHP version from early 2008 and I like it. It has been ultra reliable and better economy than the standard 1.4. (around 40 mpg) However it is not especially fast and the Civic would be reliable and faster. I also have heard that the 140 and 170...
