Home Help, can't get house insurance because of past claims

Thanks for the response peteb. They did give us a very competitive quote last year which beat everyone else. However this year our broker sent us a letter saying that they would not be able to offer us a quote this year and they had tried and failed to secure us a quote anywhere else! They...

Home Help, can't get house insurance because of past claims

Hi Peteb, No the broker has not offered us an alternative, which worries me. The house is completely standard, our broker just told us that Finsure had offered us the best quote last year which is why we went with that policy. Why, do Finsure normally only insure non standrad houses or something?

Home Help, can't get house insurance because of past claims

Did anyone above get any resolution for this issue? I'm in a similar situation. I received a registered letter from my broker today saying that our insurer (Finsure) would not be renewing our policy as we have made 2 claims in the last three years. The first claim was due to a break in we...

    Griffin Rath Manor - Maynooth

Hi I'm not sure when the estate is due to be completed fully. All the houses look pretty much finished but I know that according to the original plans there seemed to be more to do. One thing I will say is that we found the foreman of the site very helpful. We had his mobile number and he was...

    Griffin Rath Manor - Maynooth

Hi ZZZ999 I've been living in Griffin Rath for the last 2 years and love it. You're right in saying that there aren't many large open spaces, although there is a decent size green in Griffin Rath Hall (turn right when you get into the estate). Not sure how large your dogs are, but it is a...

    Weekend in Glasgow

Hi Jock Ive been to Glasgow for a few weekends and really love it! If you need to book a hotel, I like the Radisson, it's central, modern, lovely design etc and often does good deals. Restaurants-if you want to book somewhere nice for a treat the Ubiqitous Chip and Malmaison Brasserie are...

Anyone been to palma - mallorca?

Hi I spent a weekend in Palma a couple of years ago and thought it was lovely. Can't comment on beaches as we didnt visit one near the city, but the old town is really lovely. There were lots of restaurants and tapas bars, an amazing cocktail bar in an old converted church or something, and in...

Best way to Vegas? via US airport (JFK, Atlanta, LA) or via UK airport direct to LV?

Re: Best way to Vegas? via US airport (JFK, Atlanta, LA) or via UK airport direct to I flew to Vegas with Delta, connection in Atlanta. Flight was comfortable with no hassle on either leg. Would have no problem with doing the same route again. Have also heard that Aer Lingus to LAX followed by...

    Civil Engineering degree part time?

Hi Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately it will be impossible for him to attend college full time as we have a large mortgage and other financial commitments. So it's part time or nothing Im afraid. Also he enjoys the work he does at the moment so would ideally like to stick with the job he's...

Any Info On Calpe in Benidorm?

Hi Hoopman I stayed in Calpe about 3 years ago. We found it a bit quiet at the time, but it would be perfect for families. The beach is lovely, very clean and safe. There are lots of nice restaurants and bars in the area. If you rent a car you can explore the nearby towns-Altea seemed nice and...

    Ryevale, Leixlip or Stillorgan

Hi Elainem That's a tough decision, and one which you will have to make yourself based on what's right for you. As others have said, Stillorgan is an excellent location which will hold value well and provide a great quality of life. Leixlip is a very different location-it's in Co Kildare for a...

    Restaurants in Castleknock

Re: Castleknock If you like Indian and will travel a bit I definitely recommend Rangoli in Clonee (above Ladbroke bookies opposite the petrol station). Have eaten here many times and food and service is always great, they do a great value early bird as well. Don't live in the area any longer...

Re: Castleknock Another vote here for the Twelfth Lock, it's the perfect spot for Sunday lunch. A big plus is the fact that they have a tasty bar food menu instead of the usual carvery

    Maynooth, Co Kildare

Hi ixus We live in a semi d which has a fairly large driveway, so parking isn't an issue for us. Because of this I don't really notice the parking situation elsewhere. Having said that, the parking spaces at the terraced houses near us do seem to be full every evening. It may vary at different...

    Maynooth, Co Kildare

Hi doodle As mentioned before I live in Griffin Rath (4 bed semi). Negatives-as the other poster mentioned it is higher density than older estates. Unfortunately this is the case with any new estate, it's just the planning regulations. It doesn't affect us, but might if you bought a...

Move to Kildare or buy in Dublin ?

I moved to Maynooth recently and am very happy with my decision. I like having a bigger house with more room, parking etc. I find that all the facilities I need are in the area-pubs, restaurants, shops etc, and it's a short drive from other towns, Liffey Valley etc. I normally use the train...
