Non resident landlord - PRSI charge on income tax bill?

Hi, I'm a non resident landlord with an Irish property. I'm completing my income tax bill for 2014. Rental income is the only irish income I need to declare on the tax return. For 2014, there is a PRSI charge appearing for the first time. I am being charged a minimum PRSI fee of 500 on top of...

Mortgage options now we have clarity from CB

Gordon, I do not believe the CBI rules require you to stump up a 20% deposit. I have inserted a reference from page 9 of the CBI rules below. All it requires to avail of the NE exemption is that you are a borrower in NE on a current property seeking a housing loan (note if does not state...

I have an investment, but want to buy a home

I read the CBI rules and did not see any reference to "second time buyers" as it pertains to the NE exemption. Neither is there a specific reference to a requirement to sell the NE property. It would seem to me that it is a very broad exemption.

90% (up to 220k) for first time buyers; 80% for everyone else

"Housing loans for borrowers in negative equity who wish to obtain a mortgage for a new property are not within the scope of the LTV limits." We will need to await the full wording of the legislation but above quote may mean that a large proportion of people who bought their first property...

Effective Date for new CB mortgage limits

Hi, Does anyone know what the effective date will be for the proposed new rules? The wording on the consultation paper seemed to imply an early January effective date. However there were a fair number of responses to the CP and varying amounts of commentary from ministers and lobby groups which...

Would the fee the landlord pays to the collection agent for providing the service be deductible against any tax due?

Negative Equity on PPR, Need to move, Calculations as 1st time Landlord

Seems to be a grey area! I plan to inform the Revenue but I do not plan to tell the bank that I will be renting out property. It does not say anything in my T&C's that I have to. I will also inform the prtb once I rent the property. If the bank continue to provide mortgage interest relief I will...

Key Post Has anyone lost their tracker through renting out their home?

Hi, I have my mortgage with AIB and will be renting my property out as I'm moving abroad. I read the T&C's and there is no mention of losing my tracker rate and no mention that property must remain my PPR. I took my mortgage out in 2006. However there does seem to be some conflicting opinions on...

I honestly did search before I posted but after repeating another search's I found this. http://www.askaboutmoney.com/showthread.php?t=129500&highlight=working+in+uk So if I'm reading this right, I should be able to claim full years tax credits, meaning I can earn approximately €18500 without...

Hi, My company pays bonuses at the end of January for the previous year. As its the start of the tax year, we get hit pretty hard on tax. Last year I remember paying 56% to the revenue on bonus received (5 figure sum). I am planning on emigrating to the UK for work reasons at the start...

    Aksia report on Madoff Securities

Check out this link. [broken link removed] A money market manager based in Boston, named Harry Markopolos, sent a memo to the SEC as far back as Nov 2005 trying to bring the fraud to light but apparently it was ignored. Does not show the SEC in good light.

Buying Laptop - How bad is vista?

Hi, Looking to buy a new laptop. Dell broke down after 2.5 years. Pretty good innings I suppose. Would mostly use for music, video, wireless internet but would also do quite a bit of word, excel, powerpoint. Looking around the €1,000 mark. Speed would be important for me, HD Memory would...

    Ford Puma - new lamp

Hi, Other half's car failed the NCT due to lights not being aligned. Tried to get it fixed but apparently the lamp is broke. Guy said it needs a new one and that costs €400+VAT+Fitting. Doesn't sound very appetising, car not worth a huge amount of money anyway. Anyone know where we might...

Using Two Estate Agents. Any issues?

Hi, We've had our apartment up for sale for about 5 months. Despite a number of promising early viewings we had not received any offers. And lately we have not even had any viewings. Our price was probably a little high so we have now reduced it a little. HOwever this has not led to an...

    cant get 100% mortgage

I would not be as sceptical about taking out a 100% mortgage. Especially if you are getting good value for money on the property (lots of opportunities at the moment) and you expect to live in the premises for approx 5 years plus. The current climate is more a factor in the decision to buy...

    Auctioneers fees

I received quotes of 0.75% to 1%. Advertising Costs were additional and ranged from zero to €450 for, give or take, the same service. 1.5% sounds a bit high to me.

Research grant funding for mortgage approval?

Hi, when we applied for our mortgage my gf was completing her phd. We managed to get a letter from her supervisor stating what she was earning from her grant (approx 13k) and we also included earnings from tutorial lessons she gave (approx 7k). The bank took into account the 20k as her salary.
