    Downsizing to a bungalow

About 30 years ago we moved from a bungalow to our present two story house. Our present house has 5 bedrooms. 5 reception rooms. Only the two of us living here now, with the occasional stay over of grand children. A couple of times a year we take a stroll past our old bungalow. It has been...

Ryanair changed my flight times and they don't suit me

They need to write this in to their Terms and Conditions and not on FAQ's. This is part of the email that they send you when they re-schedule your flight. If you have already printed your boarding pass, please reprint it to ensure your boarding pass shows the updated scheduled departure and...

I think I am tired of being "Green".

I was looking through some old photos over the Christmas with visiting family members. I noticed in one of the photos I was sitting with my then 8 year old grand daughter. She is now 20 years old. The sweater I was wearing over Christmas was the same one in the photo. I have the same kitchen...

Aviva says lowest car Insurance quote available is €280.

All included in the €310, except for the JourneyWise cover. The €310 minimum is annoying and I agree that Aviva need to look at this again.

Aviva says lowest car Insurance quote available is €280.

My good wife got her renewal with Aviva for the lowest €310. Looking through her quote and I see that her insurance is actually €240 with all the discounts....but they have added back in €70 to bring her insurance back up to the minimum amount of €310. Anyone else get lower quotes than €310...

I think I am tired of being "Green".

For many years we have only bought what was needed at Christmas. I must be getting soft in the head but this year we decided to do it differently. We would have the gang over and instead of offering the traditional Christmas lunch we would have a cold lunch instead. Huge amount of waste as a...

I think I am tired of being "Green".

Bananas are different to other fruits. We were talking about bananas in particular not fruits in general.

Other useful European Airlines that you have used.

I can't imagine that Ryanair will provide us with a list. It would be useful. I had a plan to fly in to Toulouse and out of Rodez. Bit of a road trip planned over the autumn. That plan has had to be scrapped.

    Ryanair. Black Friday/Cyber Week sale.

Absolutely nothing. Dreadful offers altogether. I certainly wouldn't be tempted.

Specsavers. Is there a problem with them or PRSI?

Do the Dept. of Social Welfare ever send out a follow up request to the customer and ask them what service they actually received?

Have GP card. I think I need to change GP.

I am not sure how long blood test results take to get back to doctor. Is it normal to wait for the practice to ring you or is it normal to ring the practice after a period of time?

Have GP card. I think I need to change GP.

I got a GP card last year and nominated the practice I have been attending since the 1970's. I now realise that the doctor that I have been attending for many years should have been more on top of things than he has been. For example. I had shingles a few years back but didn't diagnose them...

Ryanair changed my flight times and they don't suit me

It would appear that you have to wait for the Ryanair email to tell you that the flight times have changed despite their website no longer showing the original flights. Does the Irish Aviation Authority anything to say about this?

Do you need to cancel a direct debit or is the company meant to do it?

Back in my banking days when someone wanted to cancel a DD we would ask them to contact the company and get them to do it, because they originate it. What you need to do is also ask the bank not to "accept" these direct debits if presented for payment.. The bank can't cancel it but they can...

Best online broker for buy and hold investor?

I have an account with Davy. Their commission is pretty high at .5%. However I find that when I place an order it is usually executed pretty fast and notified immediately with the funds available to immediately re-invest if needs be. I never seem to get a better price than the Limit price I am...

Best way to get rid of Ivy

The problem with ivy is when it is coming from your neighbours garden. It can grow between your wooden fence and over time, causes it to break. Every year we would spend time cutting, trimming and trying to destroy this pest as it grows through our shared boundry fence. One of our neighbours...

    Annoying Neighbours.

May Bank Holiday Weekend and our neighbour has had his power washer on now for at least three hours as he power washes his decking......again. He started this over the Easter Weekend and is continuing this task again this weekend. Same last year. It will be due a refresh over the June bank...

State Savings have abandoned the small saver

As my NTMA accounts mature, I am cashing them in and putting the money to use elsewhere. I would prefer to use the bank of Mom & Dad to save my children interest on their mortgages than get the paltry returns on these State products.

Bank culture has not changed.....customer is still lowest priority

I made a complaint to the Irish Permanent on their online form 10 days ago and not even a response to date.
