Lawnmower recommendations - shop, with/with-out plug

I have both a manual and an electric model. The manual push mower cuts the grass much shorter (I am sure there is a way to change the level, but I have not figured it out yet), and the ground needs to be fairly even or the grass will definitely spill from the grass collector. Whatever you do -...

Ballincollig Old Quarter or Maryborough Douglas

If you are working city centre - check out the bus service for both. Ballincollig (my parents currently live there) is nice - good ameneties - cinema, nice regional park, shopping centre, local shops. Is it possible to rent for a while in either places? I'm afraid I don't know Douglas as well.

Advice on how to deal with a tricky redundancy(ish) situation

1 years salary for 4 years working is way over the odds. Generally 2nd round redundancy offers are less than that offers in the 1st round.

1980s house, attaching to external wall

I have used the butterfly plugs (mentioned in the 2nd link on Leo's post above) for curtain rails, holding full length curtains, and these are inserted into plasterboard. No problems so far, and they've been hung a few years now. You can get them in B & Q, 2 different sizes as far as I can...

Advice on Moving Bank/ Restructuring Finance/ Moving Credit Card

@Bronte - I understand - actually, I can think of one or two people in my circle of friends who are in this situation - and mostly its down to living beyond their means. So what would be the advice to the OP - pay off credit card & cut it up, reduce overdraft until it is no longer needed, all...

Advice on Moving Bank/ Restructuring Finance/ Moving Credit Card

Bronte, you have a point regarding the Op examining her spending habits, but the OP mentioned that she was looking to reduce her OD and get rid of her credit card, which is a step in the right direction.

    I -pad advice.

How about a netbook? Smaller and lighter than a laptop. I have an ipad and I must say I find it brilliant for web browsing. Have not watched movies on it, just Youtube. Fits in handbag. I dont have 3G, but there is free wifi almost everywhere nowadays. You might also consider a Galaxy iTab.

Will we save on income tax if we marry or stay single?

Same sex people asked & lobbied for Civil Marriage, not a cut down subset of it, which is what Civil Partnership is. Yes I agree the same options should be there for everyone, but please dont make it sound like the minorities asked that the majority be excluded!

    Insulation consultation

I have suspended floors and yes I do notice the cold - while the room itself is warm, the floor is laminate and its like walking on cold tiles. Is there anything else I can do asides from lifting the floor and insulating? That sounds like a big job. Thanks

    stop blaming mortgage holders

This discussion is becoming rediculous. There is no one thing to blame, but many. Yes the mortgage holders are to blame, yes the banks are to blame, yes the developers are to blame, but mostly, in my opinion, the government/regulators are to blame. It is their job to put controls in place so...

Do companies have to have health and safety policies? Doesnt sound like a very safe place to work, just because people have put up with a rickety stairs, doesn't mean it would pass a health & safety check.
