Payment to an Overseas based contractor

Hi, I've had a contractor based in Italy do some work for an Irish registered private owned entity - basically we got a bill unexpectedly. Work has been done and we owe for it. I'm a bit concerned we might be missing something Tax wise in the context of paying him. Had a look - we don't fit PWST...

Register a Charge on a property

Hi Guys, Quick query - Ive been reading up about how to register a charge/mortgage on a property. Basically I have done this using a solicitor before, normally happens where someone owes you money and you want to lay first claim on an asset when they sell. (although revenue will have first...

KBC Enter Current Account Market (Details Revealed)

Im actually using the PTSB service at the moment, having switched from UB for my current account. Have to say Im less than happy with PTSB. The switch was a complete disaster - basically they didnt switch all my DD's and ended up doing the whole lot myself. Salary wise - when my employer booked...

What's the difference between Resident and Ordinarily Resident for tax purposes?

Hey, Basically it comes down to the number of days spent in Ireland during the tax year for residence. Your residence status for tax purposes is determined by the number of days that you are present in Ireland in a tax year. You will be resident in Ireland for a tax year in either of the...

    VAT on online jewellery

I could be wrong, but i do know of one case of a similar where the VAT was charged on the value of the Item being imported. Typically if the Goods are being delivered DHL, they will call and refuse to release until Vat/Duty is paid. There is a section on the waybill which details what the goods...

I've had a KBC account for about 3 months. Seem ok to deal with, Money took a bit long to get from my Rabo Account into KBC account (about 7 days) but other than that no complaints. Interest is good and i have yet to see any charges. I believe they are an Irish bank but the parent is a far...

    Requested a P21

I think there is about a 4 week wait on a P21 so basically means that your depending on whether the P21 is printed first or Cheque. Seems like a bit of a lottery as the data is already in the revenues system so its not impossible the cheque is issued prior to the P21.

As simply joe pointed out, best move would probably to become a sole trader, Fill in your TR1 and do your F11 then every year! Pretty Straightforward, especially if its only small amounts.

Accountant need to start new business

One suggestion might be to use here to get a ballpark figure, if you have a rough idea of Turnover some of the accountants here if they have broadly similar clients might be able to give you an idea of roughly what costs you would be looking at? Aside from that, for some of the more...

    Defined Benefit Vs PRSA

I would say that your probably best off with the DB scheme if your fairly sure the employer will still be in Ireland/Existence when you retire. Otherwise its definitely worth looking at a transfer. As above, reccomend a fee based consultation!

    Transfer of Shares

Normally id just use a Companies Formation Agent for somthing like this - just a query incase anyone else here has done one. I want to transfer shares in a limited company. Anyone any idea on what the Shareholders got- i.e if they got a cert saying their Shares were now worth 0, they could (in the unlikely event) write the invesment off against similar gains? Saw a while back a figure of somthing like 6-7c a share for former shareholders, heard nothing since, any...

    Outstanding Debt

I think there were some decent debt collection agencies listed on another thread here - i dont have it. Thats one option if you want to go that way. Another is a Solicitors Letter, allthough if revenue are chasing them they probably arnt going to be unduly concerned about that. Id say start...

    Pay less for Accountant's Fee

This is a bit of a general answer - When an accountant is looking for a price for doing some work the first thing id check was turnover as the fee will be related to that (i.e the amount of work in it - large turnover might mean lots of transactions etc). After that its complexity, has the...

Ltd Company, What Information is Publicly Available? Is Trading Address?

Yea, pretty much, as far as im aware thats just on the CRO Docs. As Long as you have a registered Address on it there should be no problem. I use somthing similar myself and there hasnt been any issues with it, CRO and revenue were satisfied as long as they had the registered address and place...

    Sole Trader with big problems

As above, id suggest a meeting with your accountant. You dont want to get into dealing with the Sheriff if at all possible. After that MABS is your next best bet, but if your accountant knows what hes at that would be the best move.

Ltd Company, What Information is Publicly Available? Is Trading Address?

Generally an easy way of doing this is to register the business address at a location like the NSC or one of the Virtual offices, i dont work for them or anything but use them from time to time - that can be your front office. Register the firm there and your good to go. (as you mentioned in...
