Grant to convert commrcial to residential

Don’t think there’s a specific grant for changing commercial to residential Yes, you would need planning permission for change of use

Gone Sale Agreed But Found Significant Issues Post Survey - Best way to negotiate

I’d say it is likely the vendor would return to the underbidder(s) rather than agree to a reduction. How significant is the extra work required? Anyway in answer to query it would be the auctioneer

Deposit rates rising -good time to change to banks ?

Probably not. The 2% is for a regular saver @€1k per month. So the interest at the end of the year is pretty small Do you have any loans? Any credit card debt? A mortgage? Are you Maximising your pension contributions? And then I suppose try to figure out when you might need the €70k

AIB & EBS to increase deposit rates including 2% Regular Saver

Question about moving to a four day week

There’s no tax implications to 100% working in 4 days. Obv you’d be down 20% gross salary if you moved to a traditional 4 day week but can’t say what tax savings would be as would depend on tax credits and income tax bands. But I would guess around 15% down on net income - that’s a total guess!

It is easy to get scammed even if you are reasonably alert

Ok, I’m in total agreement about the multiple transfers. As the old saying goes - fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me! But I still think if you were to get a phone call from a Irish fella purporting to be from revolut then you’d probably consider this person legit. But as...

It is easy to get scammed even if you are reasonably alert

Actually searched the plethora of revolut emails and found this from last week How to spot an online scam ️ But again no mention that revolut will never phone a customer flagging a bogey transaction

It is easy to get scammed even if you are reasonably alert

They’re literally impossible to get a hold of, only a chatbot as an option, of all the scamming stories I have read lately are to do with revolut. Can’t be a coincidence? Also, plenty of messages looking for me to sign people up but can’t remember any warning me that they never phone people…

It is easy to get scammed even if you are reasonably alert

I think a lot of blame has to lie with revolut. Think I have around €50 in there and that’s about as much as I’m comfortable holding - so many are now using it as a bank. I can’t remember ever receiving warnings from revolut that they do not phone people and this article again highlights how...

    Looking for financial advice

I still think a basic health insurance for both of you is a very good idea. And maybe life assurance to cover care for your daughter if anything happens to you. Other than these you’re doing very well and in a comfortable position financially

    Looking for financial advice

Agree with sarenco, start a pension asap. Keep €10k as a cushion Look into health insurance for both of you Throw the balance off the mortgage, and depending on which bank your with it might be worth looking at switching

    Separating, advice pls.

Ok, by my simple calculations you’d need a mortgage of €305k - that’s if your husband is amenable to the split, but definitely worth re-engaging with mediator to discuss. But maybe you’re going to have to figure out a way to exist in the same house for a while longer until a way is figured out

    Separating, advice pls.

Yes, would be worth having those figures and maybe coming to an agreement that each party is ‘repaid’ then the balance of equity is shared So house worth €300k, mortgage balance €100k, equity €200k You’re repaid €60k, he’s repaid €20k. Balance €120k. So €60k each. You’d need a mortgage of...

    Separating, advice pls.

So the mortgage outstanding is €100k? So you’d need a max sole mortgage of €200k to buy him out?

    Redundancy for a director

Is her role being made redundant? Then yes she would be entitled to a redundancy - I would be asking accountant for advice if you’re considering over the statutory amount. Her employment then becomes terminated on ROS She can remain as a non executive director - the 2 are separate (Not a...

    Separating, advice pls.

When did you both buy this house? What % of equity/amount did you put in v your husband? Is there any way to extend or covert attic or add a shomera etc to make things more manageable in the medium term? Has your husband said what he’d like or expect from a settlement? Mediation most definitely...

    Separating PPR and Maintenance

Could she move in with her partner and you back into the house? Or at least be in the house when you have the children and vice versa. Could it work? Puts a new angle on things when there’s a third party involved. If new partner did move in then I would assume he would contribute…. Is your...
