cost to totally renovate a house

As another poster says it really depends on the condition of the house and on your taste regarding fixtures, fittings & furnishings. We set ourselves a budget of 60k for a rennovation, rewire, new bathrooms, kitchen, flooring, garden, knock down a few walls, put up a few partitions. No idea if...

    Knocklyon

Can't give any advice about Orlagh estate, but I've lived in Knocklyon for the past 5 years and I love it. Nothing negative to say about the place atall.

    Ballinteer or Leopardstown

I too would second Ballinteer as it's a more settled area. I work in Leopardstown, so I'm pretty familiar with the area - it's nice too, but if I had a choice it would be Ballinteer. It's closer to town, better bus service, more amenities, near to Marlay park.

Lots of viewings but no offers!

As somebody that has recently bought a house, I would have to offer you some encouragement. If people are coming for second viewings, then you are doing something right and the price must be attractive to people. We have been looking to buy a house for 18months and we've viewed a lot of houses...

French artists selling door to door in Dublin

Just reading this thread now, I'd no idea this was a scam. We live in Knocklyon and there was a spate of them calling all the time. I always said no when they started talking, I just find it's better to cut them off straight away. They are definitely the most aggressive lot of door to door...

    Sale Agreed - Closing

We too are buyers, sale agreed 6 weeks ago, waiting for the vendor's solicitor to provide docs to our solicitor (certs of compliance etc...). And the EA has the nerve to ring us and ask us why we haven't signed the contracts already. The EA has not given us the BER cert yet despite being asked...

    Certificate of Compliance

Onq Thanks so much for your post. I should know this week what is going on, so my solicitor says.

    Certificate of Compliance

Thanks for the replies. I have spoken to our surveyor who assures me that people most often don't realise they need planning permission or cert of compliance for renovations to their houses or they simply forget. He said that a cert of compliance takes no time atall to organise. However the...

    Certificate of Compliance

We sale agreed a property 4 weeks ago, got a surveyor out and no structural issues that he could see. He advised us (as did our solicitor) that the vendor needed to provide a certificate of compliance for the converted garage. Two weeks since our solicitor requested this, we are still waiting...

Dublin Solicitor & building surveyor recommendation

Thanks for that, I actually found a surveyor and a solicitor by searching on here and on boards.ie So far so good, our house purchase is ongoing but I'd be happy to recommend either if all goes well. As I'm not a frequent poster (yet), I can certainly pm people with names.
