I too would second Ballinteer as it's a more settled area. I work in Leopardstown, so I'm pretty familiar with the area - it's nice too, but if I had a choice it would be Ballinteer. It's closer to town, better bus service, more amenities, near to Marlay park.

Just reading this thread now, I'd no idea this was a scam. We live in Knocklyon and there was a spate of them calling all the time. I always said no when they started talking, I just find it's better to cut them off straight away. They are definitely the most aggressive lot of door to door...

We sale agreed a property 4 weeks ago, got a surveyor out and no structural issues that he could see. He advised us (as did our solicitor) that the vendor needed to provide a certificate of compliance for the converted garage. Two weeks since our solicitor requested this, we are still waiting...

Thanks for that, I actually found a surveyor and a solicitor by searching on here and on boards.ie So far so good, our house purchase is ongoing but I'd be happy to recommend either if all goes well. As I'm not a frequent poster (yet), I can certainly pm people with names.

I got a few quotes recently, they all worked out at the 2200-2300 (including VAT & outlays).
