This happened on my Picasso as well. It's the fan resistor. I wasted loads of time trying to get the part, there are loads of different models/types that citron use. What model/year is your c4 @mijac?

33, 110k per year, need advice to maximize wealth

I love Askaboutmoney but this site only sees 'investing' through a narrow view of return in monetary value. The suggestions all revolve around: -max contributions for pension -pay off mortgage -best return on small savings pots None of your plans or the suggestions from this forum appreciate...

Shorter Mortgage Term or Longer Term with Overpayments along the way

Definetly go for the 25 year. If you calculate it out if you pay the extra 300 a month you can actually pay the mortgage off earlier than 20 years...

A lot of your thinking is thinking for the future: -max contributions for pension -pay off mortgage -find best return on 200k None of your plans or the suggestions from this forum appreciate the maxim 'carpe diem'. My suggestion would be take a portion of this windfall and: -take as much...

    Short bitcoin

The issue with Bitcoin is that it's so volatile. To keep your short position open it would require a lot of capital to prevent it getting closed due to predictable 20-30% moves in Bitcoin. Even if you're willing to live with that volatility it will drain your other main resource, time. Bitcoin...

    Inflation of 7% for 2023?

Don't see much talk of what I think was the most shocking sentence in the budget: "My department is updating its forecasts to headline inflation of 8½ per cent for 2022, and just over 7 per cent for 2023." 7% inflation for next year is pretty worrying as that would make for 2 years of high...

Avant Mortgage - new mortgage time line experience?

I gave up on Avant, just switched internally with Ulster Bank before ecb raises rates. I started process with broker in January, been asked for crazy info and loads of clarifications. No word from broker in over a month.

Key Post Switch or re-fix my mortgage? Breakage fee calculator and savings estimates for your case (Ireland)

Was quoted a break fee of €1200 for ulster Bank loan at start of this year. Got a quote on Friday and that has now dropped to zero. Thanks to this thread and @Paul F for highlighting this change in interbank rates.

    Central Bank warns on cryptoassets

Most people don't know how their phones /cars/fridge/mortgages actually work, doesn't stop them using them. And for that matter very few have asked the question what the euro in their pocket actually is. The more I've investigated bitcoin the more it has shown me the gapping holes in our...

Should we buy a second house and let it to our son who is renting?

Another point outside the financial ones is how will this affect your son moving forward with his life after divorce. Let's say 2 years from now he meets someone new decides to move on, maybe even move out of house. Do you want to be a landlord? Does having this house and the arrangement...

Late to the game, Am I on track for retirement ?

If you're paying €800 for rent at that moment, and you get a place that has 2 other rooms that could be rented at this price, that's €2400/month. If that was your mortgage over 20 years you could get some place at a price of €450,000. These are back of envelope calcs, but the point is that for...

Late to the game, Am I on track for retirement ?

This is good advice. If you could get a 3 bedroom place, rent out 2 rooms(tax free) you'd be paying down an asset you could sell(or rent) at retirement. With interest rates so low on mortgages, it's the next best investment you could make after your pension.

Avant Money to pay €1,500 switching fee to Ulster and KBC customers in Q1

Thanks for that Supermario. Which broker are you using? The only one I know of that offers this FirstRate mentioned earlier in this thread. Is there a cost to you for using a broker(never used one before).

    €21.5 billion deficit for 2021 and 2022

2008 we bailed out the banks and the taxpayers paid for it. 2020 we bail out everyone and the 'free money' will stimulate the economy to pay for itself. This is Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) in practice. We'll see how it goes.

Struggling , juggling kids and work.

Hi Ford25, I would not pay down your mortgage based on a 1.1% return on your money. You've just had the 200k tied up in a saving account for 6 years which you could not touch to earn around 1% return per annum. If you pay the mortgage you will never be able to access that money ever. I know...

Ireland needs cheaper homes not bigger mortgages

I think it is unrealistic to think we can keep house prices down. With the macro environment of low rates and QE there is huge money flowing into equities, commodities and assets in general. Those are all going up. If we tried to depress house prices in that context there would be...

    Work Life Balance

This book really opened my eyes to how valuable our time with our kids is and the consequences if we don't invest in that relationship. When thinking of the work/life balance it is often the idea that we are providing for their future and the monetary side. I think it is good to frame it that...

Why is Bitcoin "digital gold" crashing right now?

I have been wondering why for the last 10 years this massive QE has not caused inflation. And now we have permanent QE by FED & ECB. This is more than just the corona or slow economies. It is actually due to massive deflation caused by advances in technology. They are trying desperately...
