Health Insurance Claiming benefits from LAYA

My recent experience with LAYA is similar. I had to phone them and they were asking for letters etc saying a particular treatment was medically necessary etc. This was despite the fact that if they didn't agree to the treatment I would have to spend another five days in hospital at their...

Leaving shares, proceeds of sale & cash to a charities in my will.

Okay, thanks guys. I kinda suspected it might be okay. One is based in the US and the other I'm not sure as it involves the Rain Forests, but I'll do a bit more digging.

Leaving shares, proceeds of sale & cash to a charities in my will.

I'm currently updating my will. I intend to leave my share portfolio, cash and some proceeds of house sales to two international charities, both large, charitable organisations involved in protecting the Natural Environment. I'm wondering if anyone knows, given their charitable status but...

    Holiday abroad February/March

Valencia is a gorgeous town. Make sure you see the seaworld exhibit called https://www.oceanografic.org/en/ This is really something else. Bear in mind it may be cool and dampish. Not a huge amount to the old town in my opinion. if I had the choice I would head south to Granada, Seville or...

    Kilmainham Bank?

I have friends living up around there. Generally okay I think, but Suir Road Luas can be a bit dodgy IMO.

Health Insurance Can I claim from Hospital Saturday Fund and Laya

I had a claim reduced by LAYA to reflect a customary charge for a service. 150 is definitely over the odds for a GP.

    SKY TV/Broadband "Service."

@peemac . Totally agree. As I said, I will never go back to SKY. I would add that I like the processes for Netflix, Apple subscription and Amazon Prime. I'm with the Irish Times, but never had occasion to cancel. All the others were a simple and easy process to cancel, and to join again...

    SKY TV/Broadband "Service."

For a crowd that, as you suggest, you can't see the fault, they were pretty darn quick about going legal and then backing down very pronto when the IT got on the case. They put me thru the wringer too with the worst hold times I ever experienced and lousy customer care. I would not ever...

    SKY TV/Broadband "Service."

https://www.irishtimes.com/news/consumer/sky-calls-in-debt-collectors-after-deep-sea-diver-attempts-to-close-account-1.4677091 I had had a similar experience with SKY including a communication from a debt collection agency. SKY insist they must speak directly with you to verify your account...

Move from detached to a semi?

One of the nicest terraced houses I lived in was an Edwardian 3 story in Clontarf. One of our neighbours had a party and all the beer cans were lobbed into our garden. The party went on until the wee hours. Class is irrelevant. It depends on the people, and some fairly wealthy people can be as...

Move from detached to a semi?

I have always lived in terraced housing. The difference in my view, is that the older houses, as a general principle, had much better noise insulation. I literally cannot hear most noise. I do hear if my neighbour puts on the hoover in the hall, or drills a hole, but it is very occasional.

Health Insurance Alternative to Irish Life 4D Health 2?

the one thing with the LAYA comparison tool is to show only differences - that's proven very handy for me.

Health Insurance Alternative to Irish Life 4D Health 2?

You can do a comparison on the HIA website using the current policy. I'm with LAYA and they offer a comparison facility, others may do the same. See laya: https://www.layahealthcare.ie/quote/#/compare/1?adults=1&children=0&curr=481,HIBERN

I'm not in the town @Leper . I'm out in the burbs. I wouldn't like to live in an apartment in any town. :)

Im going to buy in Spain.

Hi Bronco I bought in a small town south of Alicante called Torrevieja. It is is "working" town with a large sea salt business. You can see the pinkish hills of sea salt dotted around. We even have flamingos in the salt beds. There's also quite a busy market garden vibe with small farms...

Im going to buy in Spain.

When I was buying I was of course looking at value but I had a few criteria: * Mixed area in terms of occupants. (Lots of expats and Spanish). * Good community services. My community charges 220 per annum for a wonderful pool and well kept gardens and streets. * A reasonable social scene -...

Im going to buy in Spain.

I took the jump and bought two years ago. There's no doubt it costs in terms of time, money and sweat, but I love my little house in Spain. I hope to move there in the near future. I love that I have my own things in place - I don't intend to rent it out, but will likely return to IRL or...

Yes. this is it. I generally like LAYA, but this seemed a bit stingy TBH.

AXA home insurance and customer support

I switched from AVIVA to AXA this year. Had no problem getting thru as a new customer, and back on to do an amendment, and that was in the height of the pandemic.
