Which online brokers allow investing in US ETFs

I dont believe there was any discussion about money laundering (They go through the regular KYC checks, collect & report tax details as required and are regulated by the relevant US authorities ) these regulations are related to customer protection rules only, I am still unclear if they actually...

Which online brokers allow investing in US ETFs

Unless you qualify as a professional investor IB wont let you buy US ETFs. Tradestation/tastyworks/firsttrade would, the first 2 allow funds transfers using currencyfair the best fx route

    Architect plans way over budget

Thanks for the details. I'm not an expert by any means, but it's quite a lot of money to spend to remodel a house for the size & spec. If it was me personally I would be waiting for a while unless I really needed the extra space now, a gamble I know. I would also want to be sure I could sell it...

CGT Return & carrying forward loss on shares

If I record a loss of €100 this year with revenue and in 5 years time record a separate gain of €100 (ignoring the annual exemption), they would obviously be able to net both out and I would have no liability. Otherwise I am telling them twice about the loss.

CGT Return & carrying forward loss on shares

I was hoping to reduce the admin required and record it in the year incurred with the revenue and at a later date claim against it for gct. Are you saying I would still need to enter the loss again when I am trying to use it? Also any details on which online form/system to record it would be...

CGT Return & carrying forward loss on shares

Hi couple of questions around this, hopefully someone can help. Do you need to do a CGT return if its just recording a loss? Will revenue automatically take this off future gains, or do I need to keep track of this? I am a regular PAYE employee, can I file for CGT on MyAccount. I dont see any...

US domiciled ETF via US broker analysis

True as am young and healthy the risk is alot less. Obviously this becomes more of a risk as you get older, but who knows what tax system will be in place by then, I'll have to review this approach over time.

US domiciled ETF via US broker analysis

Just an update. I decided to proceed with this via Tradestation and just purchased my first ETF with them (VT). Setup was very quick with them (few days) and customer services were very responsive. I did the FX via currencyfair and had a wire transfer ($20 intermediary bank charge + $4...

US domiciled ETF via US broker analysis

Thanks I have seen those approaches. It would remove the us estate tax and the risk of the US broker preventing me purchasing US ETFs. It does open you up to the additional complexity, costs, additional taxable event(I think) and risk of options trading and as a result of these disadvantages I...

US domiciled ETF via US broker analysis

For a monthly longterm investor it is a pain tracking it, especially if your buying more than 1 etf per month. You also don't have the ability to offset losses, even in the same investment so you could pay tax in a year even with an overall loss. Your going to be exposed to some currency risks...
