Cable under garden for solar PV on garage roof

"10mm in diameter" Do you mean? 1) The outside diameter of the entire cable (including 3 cores, insulation etc.) is 10mm. 2) The diameter if one individual copper core is 10mm. Electric cable is usually sized and rated by the cross sectional area of an individual core/conductor and by the...

    House with 2 showers issue

Not necessarily, the most popular "Priority Unit" works on a first come first served basis. Initially there was a unit for sale that would do as you have described, I haven't seen them lately.

    Home Alarm System

I have a HKC system similiar to PM9999. It's brilliant, no false alarms and very cost effective. Wired sensors are better and much cheaper than wireless.

Thanks for your reply noproblem! Looking at a porch to the front, knock a couple of walls inside and reorganise kitchen and diner. Build a new garage to the rear. 1970's detached bungalow, well constructed but old fashioned, site a bit on the small side. Is that enough info? JB

New cooker switch neon light permanently on

The fact that the neon is lighting all of the time isn't dangerous of itself! However it doesn't give me great confidence in the strength of his connections. A loose or bad connection will lead to overheating at this point. Get someone capable to check it out, for "both" our peace of mind!

New cooker switch neon light permanently on

Yes, sounds like the Neon is fed from the " Mains IN" rather than the Mains out to the cooker, assuming of course that the switch IS Isolating the cooker when operated?? Who fitted it for you? was s/he qualified? These small jobs can be awkward and tricky. They require care. Cooker cable is...

    Aritech CS350 - Uninstalling

CS 350 was an excellent panel, many of them still in use out there! I would be surprised if there isn't a Pdf manual online somewhere. Talk to a local alarm installer, most will have had a great deal of experience with the cs 350 and may be able to return it to full function without much expense.

Aritech alarm - shock sensor on entry door

I've never seen it done, as Leo says, "you will have to be very careful closing the door" or the shock sensor sensitivity will have adjusted to the minimum. Would you consider a) Fitting an external mailbox and sealing up the slot on the door. Place this away from the front door. b) Putting up...

    House Alarm System

I'd agree with Leo on the manufacturers, ie: Hkc or Siemens. As regards the installer, there are many very good local installers! Take a drive around the area, town where you live and look at the names on the alarm boxes. Phone the three most popular companies and arrange for them to come and...

    Problem with Garo RCD.

The middle position is the "trip" position. To reset, push the switch down to the "off" position. (It should stay here if rcd is ok.) Push the switch up to the "On" position to switch the circuits back on. If the switch won't stay in the off position then in all likelihood the the rcd is...

Have we too many third level students?

Have we too many third level students?

Could anyone tell me how much the Government/Dept of Education fund each college per student? I think this money is called a capitation grant? I see hundreds of third level students at a local IT I occasionally work in, they breeze in and out sometimes attending lectures, more often not! At the...

More insulation on a cavity block wall

we still have the little grey beads coming out of our air vents, everytime there is a strong wind. It drives me crazy, as I ultimately have them popping up throughout the house. Perhaps there's an easy solution to this problem, without having to close off all of the air vents which I know I'm...
