Raisin banks - do Raisin place your deposit in a "client/omnibus" account - or do you get your own account no. own IBAN at the relevant bank?

If you want to deposit 2 * 100,000 via raisin to two different eurpoean banks, you should theoretically be covered by the DGS so long as you don't exceed 100,000 in your raisin account as the money passes though it. It would be more reassuring if that was backed up by a separate IBAN per account.

BFF Paying 4.00% AER on 6 month deposit

I know there's a 100,000 guarantee, but should we be concerned at the ratings of BFF? I'd prefer not to have to actually use the guarantee... https://investor.bff.com/rating

    Childcare increase!

If your creche signed up to the core funding offered to them last year, part of that was a commitment not to increase fees this year. I'm not sure when that ends: https://www.gov.ie/en/press-release/d422b-minister-ogorman-secures-1bn-investment-in-early-learning-and-childcare/

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

Ah, I see, and this has been added: "The interest rate you have selected may change between the time you complete this application form and the time we process it. The interest rate applicable at the time we process the application form will be applied to the loan."

Overpayment / re-fix flexibility of AIB's green 5yr fixed rate (and some other rates)

Is this actually a risk? In the form, you're explicitly selecting a particular rate by ticking next to a checkbox with that rate printed e.g. 2.1%, 2,35% and then emailing it on on the day that rate is valid on their website.

Child care fees to be reduced by 25%

True, but if they don't register with túsla, parents won't get NCS funding to use them. Very few childminders have registered, hopefully more will be encouraged to as we need more quality childcare places!

Child care fees to be reduced by 25%

The increase from .5 to 1.4 per hour comes in in January. I think they have managed this quite well - the grant system for childcare providers was based on them signing up not to increase fee this year. Now with the ncs system in place, it’s easy to increase funding. I know it seems unfair to...

Child care fees to be reduced by 25%

Note that since the end of August, the NCS universal supplement also applies to the hours not covered by ECCE for preschoolers, and to afterschool services for under 12s, so this helps a lot more people. The €2,100 annual saving mentioned in the budget is based on the saving for one pre-ECCE...

Any schemes to help FTBs buy old house?

Yes - there’s a grant scheme specifically for ftbs to restore vacant buildings in towns (not cities) - they have to be vacant for 2 years. 30,000 or up to 50,000 if derelict. I think it’s a brilliant idea, encouraging life in our small towns over ribbon development and reusing existing...

    Insurance to go to UK

If you have more than one driver, confirm with them if the named or any other drivers are covered in the UK - it may just be the main driver covered. I also assume that only full licenses would be covered in other countries, but worth checking if relevant.

Attempted fraud on Bank of Ireland credit card

The same thing happened to me in recent weeks with BOI and and a spotify transaction. If you have the card registered to apple pay / wallet, you benefit from getting the new card available to use on your phone immediately, with no waiting for a card to be sent out, which is great here...

Free GP care extended to age 7

Still no update on when this comes into effect. It would have to be negotiated with the GPs. Children currently lose the card when they turn 6, this will extend it until they turn 8.

    Car for twins

https://rearfacing.ie/blogs/rear-facing/fitting-3-childrens-car-seats-across-in-your-car Rear-facing is the way to go to fit 3 across in a normal car. It's far safer, and the widest part of the car seat is the back, so rear-facing maximises the space. You could fit rear in the two window seats...
