Will we get purchase completed by 31st Dec?

All you're looking at though (or are able to look at) are things on your side of the deal. We went sale agreed on the house we're purchasing in June, still haven't got the keys. Our own sale took from sale agreed in June to keys handed over at the beginning of October. There were delays in...

sorry if I wasn't clear clubman - ONQ has it, new mortgage is fixed for 5 years, old one was a tracker.

Is it wise to fix for 5 years?

We've just signed up for a 5 year fixed rate of 3.7%. We've just given up our tracker to sell our house but as we'd been overpaying for years, the combination of no longer overpaying + the new principle being lower (because of overpayments and getting a bigger house a mile up the road for same...

    Estate Agent Fees

about to pay a bill of 1.2% + vat, + €400 up front for advertising. Had inganother quote of 1.5% + vat and a new place was offered 1% + vat. Went with the agent who sells most in the areas and he sold it for 1.5% below the asking within 15 days (and achieved the amount he told me he'd get for...

Having just gone through a mortgage application with PTSB I can tell you that it's originals only.

Should husband become a stay at home Dad?

Our experience of this - We debated this for a while with respect to me becoming a sahm (stay at home mammy). In the end the decision was made when the company I worked for went bust last year. We had 2 kids and full time creche was €1675. My hubby had bulk of the credits/band so I took home...

    Mortgage approval question

Yes - we have salary a bit lower than you, slightly lower savings, no debts, one at home with 2 kids, asked for €155k (only 50% LTV) and were told that we could probably get up to around 4 times the salary - and that was with PTSB who are doing almost no mortgage business. Can't see you having a...

Fixed part of my mortgage and lost tracker

you may have a problem with "the then prevailing Tracker Rate", if they don't have a current prevailing tracker rate then they can probably make one up and I would doubt it'd be a nice small one.

PTSB Mortgage holders to get 10pc bonus for paying lump sum off trackers

The original offer allowed you to pay off up to 50% and had a clawback clause if you redeemed in full within 6 months. The updated offer allowed a full redemption and obviously no full redemption clawback. Once the mortgage account is closed and your house is your own, they have no say in what...

PTSB Mortgage holders to get 10pc bonus for paying lump sum off trackers

Well, we got our discount, sold the house, paid off the mortgage and are now €14,500 better off. It may not be a brilliant deal for most but for anyone selling a house anyway it's great!

    Cheque Lodgment and Revenue Office.

I recently lodged 6 figures worth of cheques to my current a/c and subsequently wrote a cheque to clear mortgage with the funds (short term family loan as have just sold house but sale funds wouldn't be available for use until after the closing date on PTSB tracker bonus offer). Asked when...

How long should we wait before increasing offer

If it goes on much longer the 'value' will have fallen anyway as is constantly happening. We had a house we wanted, knew there wasn't anyone else interested. We told the EA we were very interested but had a lot of stuff to do before we could put in an offer, put our place on the market, get...

buying a house - EA looking for proof of mortgage

We only had one house we were interested in seeing, and would only sell our own home if we thought we could get that one. I told the EA we hadn't even got our house on the market or sought mortgage approval and was that a problem. He just said, sure I'll show it to you and see where we go from...

Money makeover & what amount we 'should' be able to save each month, please?

Without your loans and o/ds you should be well able to save plenty. We're taking home a few hundred less than you - mortgage is about 380 more than yours and we're saving a few hundred a month. We've no loans other than mortgage, running 2 cars and also have 2 kids to pay for. So it's very...

BOI Mortgage Interest rate increase from 3.4% to 4.75% - Can they do this?

Think it depends on how long the fixed rate is for. We're in the process of signing up for the PTSB 5 yr fixed at 3.7%. BOI's rate was 4.6% (I think) but their APR was lower - someone here kindly explained it for me. But given that the rate is for 5 years I'm not concerned about the APR as a...

How close is guide price to selling price

Actually the first bid was only 3% below (305 on asking of 315, with a view to achieving 310). Good to see that counter bids are only going up by 500 - 1k these days instead of the nonsense from the boom where everyone seemed to automatically add 5k as a counter bid.

How close is guide price to selling price

We put ours on in June and were sale agreed at 1.5% below asking in 15 days, 2 bidders. EA had suggested the asking price and promised the sale agreed price. So he knows how to price realistically.

interest rates not to rise much further

We recently came across all our mortgage docs from when we purchased our current home, just over 10 years ago the variable rate we were paying was 6.85%. I never realised it had been that high.

Filling station advertising hols for €19.99, hidden catch

I saved the applegreen stamps a couple of years ago. At the time I was aware of the required food purchases but figured with a baby that we would eat in the hotel anyway. The terms also said some hotels may have extra conditions on availablity. But when we filled the card and started looking...
