Best option for a loan with flexible payback?

What doesn't make sense? That post on the other thread was from almost two years ago, but you keep referring to it??

Best option for a loan with flexible payback?

Sorry for not responding - there was an awful lot to go through there! From looking at the sums, I'd be saving €400 over the term of the fixed An Post loan compared to the next best I could find (AIB). To be honest, this is probably good enough for me to simply go for the An Post option.

Best option for a loan with flexible payback?

I have been hammering away at the mortgage but obviously won't be doing that in the short term if I have a higher interest loan to pay back :)

Best option for a loan with flexible payback?

I'm looking at getting a load for 20k over 3 years but ideally I'd like to be able to pay this back quicker than that term. I need to keep it at 3 years to allow for flexibility - I won't be able to overpay every month. Are there any options that will take this additional payment off the...

Have been hammering away at the mortgage. Is this the right thing to do?

Thanks for the feedback everyone - I really appreciate the different points of view. And yes @NoRegretsCoyote, just to confirm - it's not a big house, it's just in an expensive location! We've been lucky over the years, buying young and (in hindsight) moving at good times. So we've ended up in...

Have been hammering away at the mortgage. Is this the right thing to do?

Yes, it's correct alright. At 60 she will have 40 years done which will give a 1.5x lump and .5 pension. I think she was one of the last into that scheme. So I've always reckoned that this kind of takes the pressure of mine. €310k at the moment but was going to increase payments. You think I...

    Pensions tied to age?

Hi. So I've built up a few pension pots over the years with different employers - 5 in total. 4 are dormant and one is active. These are between Zurich, Irish Life and New Ireland. I've always been happy with this and never looked to amalgamate them into a single plan. So, my question is around...

Airline will not issue refund for flight to the US

Thanks for the suggestion. The flights were booked a year ago. I'm hoping there is no time limitation on this?

Airline will not issue refund for flight to the US

Thanks Brendan. Do you mean their policy or the governments?

Airline will not issue refund for flight to the US

Had a family holiday booked to Orlando and now everything is cancelled because of the flight embargo from the US. Absolutely gutted, but of course it is completely understandable. Got through to United Airlines today and long story short, they will not issue a refund because the tickets were...

Pension lumps - set to a specific retirement age??

OK, so some further information. Firstly, New Ireland charge 0.95% for their fund. Zurich charge 0.75% for their fund, but there is added complexity regarding the retirement age that I'm not sure I understand. Here is the response I received - I can confirm there is a 0.75% annual management...

Pension lumps - set to a specific retirement age??

Thanls for the info Liam. I did hear back from Irish Life and they are charging 0.75% for thier fund. Does this seem excessive (my impression is that it's pretty standard??). Have not heard back from Zurich yet...

Pension lumps - set to a specific retirement age??

I have three lums sums with different providers (Zurich, Irish Life and New Ireland) and these were from previous employments. I am not paying into these anymore but they will obviously continue to grow over time. They all came from DC schemes. I've since started a new job and will be paying...

Advice on what to do with a lump sum

Great, thanks a million. I just wanted to be 100% sure that it would end up reducing the term and saving the interest at the end.

Advice on what to do with a lump sum

OK, thanks for that. So just to make sure that I understand correctly, I'm looking at paying off the €60k from the mortgage and keeping the term the same. This will reduce the payment to approx. €1300 p/m. I can then setup a standing order for an additional €400 p/m into the mortgage account and...

Advice on what to do with a lump sum

Thanks for the info guys - much appreciated! We talked it over a bit and I think we prefer the idea of option 2 above. Yes, it is less flexible and the payback rate does not reduce but it's the reduction in the term that is most attractive to us. @RedOnion - where do your calculations come...

Redundancy calculations - Basic only or include commission??

When calculating redundancy payments per year, is it normally base on basic or OTE? Is there a case to be made for OTE? I'm my situation, it's a 75/25 split making up the OTE, but an important point I hope is that I have always achieved (well surpass in most years) the target. Thanks.
