Notify guards when going away on holiday or business travel

Cant see the point. They are not going to go around and check the place on a regular basis. The guard you informed will change shifts while you are away and will probably not inform any other guard of your departure. You would be better informing your neighbours.

    Malaga airport transportation

a2b transfers from Malaga airport to Fungirola costs €36 return for two people so judge it on that. I have used them before in Portugal and they are very reliable

    cowboy tarmac installers

Tarmac was put down on a driveway around my house a year ago but there was no sealer put on. The tarmac is now beginning to ravel and become loose and it is only a matter of time before it crumbles completely. I tried contacting those who laid the tarmac but they don't want to know. I was told...

Re: holiday in Algarve Bernie, we stayed in Quarteira last year and it was lovely. 30mins from the airport and nice hotel and beach. It is quiet but a short walk away from Villamoura. There are lovely restaurants there but not many bars. PM me if you want more details.

Re: has anyone ever brought the county council to (the small claims) court? :-pot hol A Director of Services with Galway County Council was reported as saying that it was up to the motorist to drive with caution in the aftermath of the floods and frost when it came to potholed roads. He said...

Reasonable offer of costs for commuting lift

A return train ticket from Galway to Dublin, which is almost 300 miles, costs nearly €60 (scandalous, by the way) but that should be some indicator. If I was giving a lift to someone five days a week and wasn't going out of my way, then I'd be happy enough with fifty or sixty quid.

    Car loan or use savings?

The interest rate for a car loan is much higher in the return you will receive by putting your money in a deposit account. If an emergency presents itself, then you can borrow.

    Where to invest lump sum

Just cashed in two dead duck insurance policies that have been running for years earning SFA. Their combined total is €15k. Any advice on where to invest this amount in a no risk environment.

    help my grass

You can't do much about it at the moment but once the growing season starts again, you could apply some slow release fertiliser that can be bought at most hardware stores or gareden centres. It could also need a good shot of nitrogen in places. But as previous poster said, keep the bloody dog...

Deposit Lost as Balance Not Paid.

In fairness, it's almost a year since the deposit was paid and no contact made with the store since then. You expect them to hold an item for that long without a further payment being made? Times are bad but that is taking the mick.

    5 court summons

First things first, I presume you have paid the back tax to cover the period when you had tickets placed on your car. Second, make sure all of the cases against you are heard on the same day because if you have paid the back tax, then the State might withdraw a couple of the summonses against...

Want to rent apartment in Albuferia

The boss and I are heading to Algarve on Sept 28 and are hoping to spend 9 nights in Albuferia (old town . . . not the bloody strip). Just wondering is there is anyone with an apartment they would like to rent for that period at a reasonable rate. Or any advice with regard to apartments to look at.

Inherited a pub, how to keep licence.

First of all the licence needs to be transferred from the old owners to the new owners (including OP) which has to be done before a District Court. Then the licence needs to be renewed at the annual licensing court in September. If the premises is being leased, then you will have to undergo a...

    neighbour with binoculars

To quell your curiosity, it would be no harm going around (in company) to the said neighbour and ask him what are the purposes of him having binoculors overlooking your property. He will probably feel more alkward as a result. It would satisfy your mind though and probably end any anxiety you...

    Voluntary Redundancy

    smelly cat

Mirrors are always a great way of getting rid of unwelcome cats. They see images of other animals (themself) and just scarper. I have two cats now but got rid of a couple of unwelcome ones by this process.
