What would happen if your PRSA provider went insolvent

They demonstrate a litany of known corporate fraud cases Whether they are pension providers is irrelevant. The point is, corporate fraud is possible, and while significant cases are very rare, it's still a risk.

What would happen if your PRSA provider went insolvent

Anything is possible. There are past examples of this. A couple of people inside the company could take fraudulent/illegal actions. We would not know until after the fact. There should be checks and balances, and systems to make it impossible. But insiders can probably workaround them too. I...

Advanzia Bank Lux Paying 4.13% AER Instant Access for First 3 Months

My teaser rate runs out soon. I emailed a few weeks ago asking about an extension, and eventually got a reply confirming there is no extension. it will revert to the standard rate, (1.61% I think). I never got an email that others mentioned saying it would be extended. So I'm withdrawing my...

Why is behind the fall in long term mortgage arrears?

I wonder is it sales? The natural life cycle along with buoyant prices? Or is it' deliberate non payers' on low trackers who saw not paying as a cheap loan? Or Irish salary increases?

Putting more than deposit protection in an irish bank

Don't take that bet ! If you are paying up front for that bet, given opportunity cost, even if you: win' the bet, you will have lost, as you will not have not maximised your value! I.e. the other party will pay you from their interest!

Key Post "Overpaying my mortgage - should I reduce the term or the monthly repayment?"

My conclusion from that thread: the financial return is the same, but the series of cashflows are different. edit: And unless you are investing the increased cashflow and making more (after tax) from it, than your mortgage rate, you would be better to reduce term!

Switching from a high cost Summit Fund?

I think taxation regime is the only reason that would support deferring a change. I think we need need more details on investment tax regime and historic performance before deciding. E.g. if exit tax based and if the fund had tripled in value. The additional return, from the money that would...

Switching from a high cost Summit Fund?

I think the are a few major elements here A) active vs passive (I assume summit is active and discount broker is passive). Historically, Statistically, passive is expected to outperform active. B) fees. Everything else equal, lower fees our better. C) taxation regime effect. How long before...

Has anyone been refused boarding on a flight they had been checked in for due to overbooking?

Last month I was nearly denied boarding by ryanair. I didn't pay extra for an assigned seat. The explanation was a last minute swap to a smaller plane due to an issue with original plane meant not all passengers with a ticket could fly. As it turned out enough passengers did not turn up so...

Move from a Smart Meter Plan to a nightsaver meter plan. Regulator? Consumer Body?

Here is a reply from CRU on this topic: If a customer has opted into a smart tariff, there are no regulatory barriers imposed by the CRU that prevent a supplier from offering a ‘smart’ day/night tariff to customers however, the CRU recognises that many suppliers may not currently offer such...

Move from a Smart Meter Plan to a nightsaver meter plan. Regulator? Consumer Body?

Hi, I have a smart meter, my meter is configured as a smart meter, and I am on a Smart Meter Plan. I would like to switch to a supplier that has a 'classic' nightsaver meter plan, as I believe it will be cheaper for me. As my meter is a smart meter, clearly, it is capable of reporting my day...
