Hi, existing tenants are leaving and pay 1200 a month rent, 600 below market level, at least. Can the landlord rent the apartment by each bedroom, say charge 600 for each bedroom and therefore get the market rent but through multi occupancy tensnt agreements? If this cant be done they will sell...

    Terminate v increased rent

The rent is about 600 below market rates due to long standing tenancy and rpz, 16 yrs. When you have a tracker interest payments were low but tax was high and now interest payments are high and taxes are lower. Complying with constantly changing rules is tough and the only landlords making...

    Terminate v increased rent

Hi, I gave my tenant notice that i intend to sell the property per the RTB guidelines. I explained that the mortgage cost has gone up 384 per month but the most i could increase it was 52 per mth per RTB caalculator and so it has become unaffordable and the hassle as well. The tenant has...

Does anyone know if EBS allow mortgage holders to take payment holidays, extend term? This is just to save some money for something, not due to affordability issues Thanks, K

    Cost of Block Garage

I'm thinking of building a garage which in time may be used as a granny flat or play school. Initially I just want it built and air tight with flexibility to change, what's involved and cost. Size is 6m by 10m or thereabouts, includes second story loft space for office, storage. No access...

How much could a new lender cut mortgage rates by?

Any idea how many existing customers of AIB, BoI, UB and KBC changes from their eve rates to the new business rates. Would it be more than the 20% in Ptsb do you think. I can understand why everyone customer doesn’t at least take up the offer with their existing lender forms cheaper rate...you...

Draghi says there is a quasi-monopoly in Irish mortgage lending

This is really interesting, would the Irish rates be comparable if RWAs and credit costs were same, how much of a gap would there be? If you included some credit for cash incentives, would Irish rates be nearly the same?

What do I pay after fixed rate period is up?

Hi, As a new mortgage customer, if I take out a fixed rate with AIB, BOI, PTSB, KBC or Ulster Bank, what are my options when the fixed period is up? Do I go onto a high svr, one of the LTV variable rates, or a fixed rate (is there different rates for existing and new customers) As an existing...

Pepper mortgage - approval in principle

What would people think is a fair price above the prime rate? 1%? I wouldn't have thought there is a big market for a product like that given what's happened

To your earlier post Brendan, yes existing Ptsb customers trading up can get the 2% unless they are excluded. BOI the same I think

Is it fair for lenders to give reductions to customers who threaten to move?

Seems people thinks it's fair that individuals get the best deal they can. Taking that a step further, new customers or switchers will always get a better deal because banks are trying to entice them, and customers who threaten to leave can be offered lower rates just to keep them. It's a tough...

Is it fair for lenders to give reductions to customers who threaten to move?

The car dealership example is a good one, but can you treat mortgages the same? If you believe the car example is fair, can I take it that you believe that the rates for new and existing customers don't need to be the same? That they can be different but shouldn't be too far apart?
