Health insurance for 21 yr old student

Thanks, Snowyb! I went for the One Plan 150 on the grounds that she has access to college doctor and is generally healthy, and the excess is not 'excessive' :-)

Health insurance for 21 yr old student

I'm looking for health insurance for my 21 year old daughter - my husband and I are with Laya but last year I found a cheaper, less comprehensive insurance for her as she is young and healthy and we felt a lower policy was sufficient! The policy is VHI one plan and the renewal is coming in at...

    Siblings inheritance rights

The girls were told by my aunt that everything was going to their brother, and that it was their (dead) father's wish. The assumption is that the girls all have husbands, as the previous poster said! Its an old fashioned view alright. Its quite a lot of value (house in south Dublin plus other...

    Siblings inheritance rights

My aunt, who is quite well off, has made a will leaving everything to her son. She also has three daughters, who are her main carers and have always been very good to her. They are understandably upset that she is excluding them. Do they have any inheritance rights, if they were to contest...

    Gift of money to parent

Monbretia that sounds like exactly what I was looking for - If you are aware of any resource with info on this I'd appreciate it, and thank you so much!

    Gift of money to parent

Yes I think it would - and thanks for the link, I read it and think she won't become liable for any tax on it. I don't quite understand if I can claim back any tax since it is to support an elderly parent, will read it again!

    Gift of money to parent

My father recently died, and it seems his pension does not transfer to her, leaving her with only her NC state pension. I would like to supplement this a little and wonder if there is a tax efficient way of doing this?

    Health Insurance Insured twice

Early this year, I took out a family cash plan with HSF as I intended renewing our hospital plan (Laya) for a cheaper plan without the every-day medical expense refunds. When it came to renewing, there was no cost difference so I ended keeping them and I will not renew the HSF plan - my...

    Student Contribution v registration

I will be in this situation this year, with a second child starting in college, so this thread is very helpful, thank you. We also have accomodation & living expenses for 2 students - is there any tax relief on these additional expenses when funding 2 or more students?

    Vokera Mynute 16e

Just going to post on a similar issue when I saw this! I also have a Vokera gas boiler and noticed today that the pressure guage is below 1 - on its way to Zero. What does this mean, and do I need a plumber or someone to service the boiler?

London: Return flight for same day... Bad idea?

I'd second Gatwick and an 'all zones travel card' - you can buy this after 9.30am for about 9 pounds and it will do you all day. You can't get the gatwick express but there is only 10 mins or so difference in the regular train journey. You can buy the card in the airport.

    Buying a Rice Cooker

I had the lidl one and found it quite adequate though it can overdo the rice on the bottom. Its OK if you like crunchy rice! But if you don't or if you will need to keep it warm for a while the trick is to slice a potato and put it on the bottom, then add the rice and water and cook in the...

    Buying wine in Roscoff

Can anyone advise when the spring fairs happen in the supermarkets? Are they a smaller version of the Autumn (Sept/Oct) 'foires'?

    Buying wine in Roscoff

Have been bringing wine back to ireland for years now from france and have never been stopped by customs. Auchan, E Leclerc or any of the big supermarkets usually have a good selection. Or watch out for a 'foir au vin', wine fair sign up for any supermarket when you will get even better...

Anywhere to get discount off Stena ferries?

Anyone have a discount code for Irish Ferries to France (sept)? I got one from another board that worked when I tried it for quotation purposes, then went to try it again and it has stopped working! Anyone know how Irish Ferries manage these codes?

LPG Gas Heating - how to reduce bill?

Thanks for replying - a full tank costs 900+ euro (think last fill was around 870 at about 10% left in the tank). I'm considering a wood burning stove for the room we spend most time in, with a back boiler - at least to supplement the gas - any thoughts on that or the size it would need to be?

LPG Gas Heating - how to reduce bill?

We have a combination of solar panels and gas to fuel both domestic hot water and underfloor heating system. Our gas consumption has been huge - not just this cold winter, and the price of gas is just not funny. We are filling the tank every 6-9 weeks from Oct to May (then the solar kicks in /...

    Driveway surface and edging ideas

I like the idea of cobbles along the edge, how would they be put in? Would I have to dig a small trench, and would they be too flat then to stop gravel migrating? I think the railway sleepers might be a bit big (unless they went into a trench which would reduce the height) - any other ideas...

    Driveway surface and edging ideas

We have a gravel driveway which was put in with a very limited budget when we built our house a few years ago. It now needs to be redone and we are looking at the various options. We like the gravel look and need to put in some sort of edging to stop it from migrating onto the lawn. But our...
