Bailed-out AIB to pay top staff €40m bonus

the last sentence says: But the Government says its hands are tied on bonus payouts that were in people's contracts. Firstly, the government have shown they can do anything they want. Secondly, what type of contract do these people have. I thought a bonus is performance related. Just turning...

Bailed-out AIB to pay top staff €40m bonus

Whatever happens I'm moving bank now. This is a 100% insult. I used to think all banks were equal but some are more equal than others. Vote with your feet and get out of AIB.

Key Post: Want to get a pension but don't know where to start

I know that this post is really OLD but I have to say that I found this to be one of the funniest things I read in a while. If people ever wondered how we got ourselves into this fine mess of a country then it is because of things like the above.

Can you help me re-negotiate my rent?

It is very competitive in the rental market these days so I would say that your landlord was also very happy to keep a tenant. Well done and for anyone considering doing the same just show this to your landlord: [broken link removed]

    I.T. Career Advice

As a 27 year old who is also working in IT I would go with the second option. 27 is quite young to be looking at working by yourself unless you are an expert and the money is great. IT is tough enough and you'll learn more when there are others around you. If I were him I would go for option 2...

    Car Rental in Dublin

You can rent a car through a few places. Europcar, budget, sixt and others. They all work out pretty much the same price to be fair. The biggest complaint I have about car rentals is that if you book online (also this is cheaper than booking over the phone) when you get there to collect the car...

How to tell if EA is bluffing?

Come on folks be honest, [broken link removed], banks aren't giving out mortgages and the country is awash with empty properties for sale and there are Estate Agents everywhere trying to sell. They're not telling the truth. Anyone that is making an offer on a property isn't going to bid so close...

    Is Auctioneer telling porkies.

Why are people buying at the moment... oh wait they're not. Here is a quote from the central bank's monthly statistics report released today: "The net increase in residential mortgage credit during the first three months of 2009 was €428 million. The comparable figure for the first three months...

    Car park space

If I have an underground car park space and someone else parks in it moer than a few times without permission then would I get into trouble for removing their number plates? This would hopefully stop them doing it again.

Dole cheats: Should I report, and how to go about it?

For every person that will report a cheat there are many that won't. Perhaps for a balanced society we need a certain amount of people to report others and therefore discourage the practice. Where is the discouragement otherwise. Perhaps then it may filter up to cops, councilors and...

    How Ryanair justifies cheap seats

All airlines pay taxes to the country that they land in. So when you pay €40, or whatever, in taxes and then don't show Ryanair don't have to pay this to the destination country. Technically they should repay to the person who booked the flight but I think the person has to apply to get this...

    Rented Pub Struggling!

Re: Rented Pub struggling.......Please help!!! Considering you're in a small enough town it would be tough to get any sort of a decent crowd in during the weeks but I suggest a poker night or something similar to this, a quiz or karaoke either. You could also try bingo for a laugh. If you had a...

Would love some advice on my current financial situation!

For someone earning 300 a week to be saving 100-150 I think that you are doing more than alright. €40k in savings is also a pretty staggering sum for a 25 year old student. You really should be clearing your credit card though before you put anything into savings. Even if it is 0% it is good...

Room painted 6 weeks ago, still smell of paint/gas?

This may not be relevant but our storage heater was giving off a gas like smell when it was getting very hot a while back. I think it was just a bit dusty. If you have a storage heater in the room this might be worth thinking about as you said it was more a gas smell rather than paint smell.

I would say ring MBNA and they will sort you out. Although, from what I know, they will try to sell you everything and a donkey with it so just be aware of what you sign up for.
