Should I keep my 'sub-prime' mortgage?!!

Here's an odd one! We remortgaged 2 years ago and as my husband was self-employed for only a short time we were unable to get a mortgage through 'normal' institutions. We have a tracker mortgage with Springboard Mortgages and had intended remortgaging with a 'normal' lender as soon as it...

    Calculate take home pay 2009

Can anyone recommend a good calculator for working out take home pay from January 2009. We usually do our household budget a couple of months in advance so we have no nasty surprises. This year we used the following calculator and it was accurate I found it very helpful as it takes into...

How to remove the smell of vomit

I've found the best smell remover is vinegar. 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water in a squirty bottle. Spray the area thoroughly and allow to dry naturally. The smell of the vomit and vinegar will be gone once dry. This is great for getting rid of the smell in cars as well - as I know only too well...

Looking for advice on debts with my business and personal guarantees.

Hi Honeymonster, I'm very sorry to hear about the position you are in. I'm sure it is very stressful. As papervalue has said it would be very important that you get legal advise on this. Have you had any meetings with your accountant to discuss the implications of you putting the business into...

We are moving soon to a rental property close to my husbands place of work. He has been working away from home for a year now and it has created too much strain on family life only seeing him 2 days a week. Can Gardaí just search any vehicle for no reason?

Can I ask a question? There are 1 or 3 points for failure to produce a licence. Does this apply to when you are stopped by guard at the side of the road or do you get an opportunity to produce later. Sorry if off topic. I'm just not clear about it.

    economic way to heat water

I have a question about using the immersion heater that can't be answered on the ESB website. If you leave the immersion on all the time it is only being used to keep the water hot and not heating up a tank from cold (except for the first time you turn it on that is). Is there any way to...

    Rent out ppr or not?

My husband has been working away from home for the past year. We have decided that it would be best for our family for us to move to where his job is based. We have 2 options: 1. Leave our family home unoccuppied so that we can use it at our free will to visit friends and family. 2. Rent it...

    Sky Multi-room - Landline Query

We have sky multi room and have both boxes connected to our landline as per terms and conditions. However, we got the nasty letters about the boxes not being connected to the landline even though they were. It turns out that if your phone number is ex-directory then they cannot tell if your box...

    Do I Need A Socket?

Yes. Do you know the model of extractor you're going to use? If so let the electrician know the dimensions so he can place the socket so it'll be hidden behind the 'chimney' part.

    Sinking a trampoline

I've been pestered by the kids for a good while to get them a trampoline. I've been putting it off as i'm not entirely convinced about the safety of them. I've a friend who's a radiographer and says the worst trampoline related injuries she sees are as a result of users getting caught in the...

    Philips Ambilight TV

Hi, We have a 42 inch Philips Ambilight t.v. We love it but I wouldn't recommend you spend much more than you intended to just to have it as an extra feature. It can be left off if you like but we like to have it on. It just creates a nice background light behind the tv but to be honest you...

    Buying SKY+ box on ebay

Hiya, Afraid it's not as simple as that. You'll need a sky+ subscription for the sky+ box. Have you asked sky about upgrading your box f.o.c. They may consider it if you've been a customer long enough and of course you'll get the 12 month warranty with a new box from them. HTH
