    biggest thing is to make sure walls are fully dry before painting. the idea of using the watery paint is to seal the walls and stop them from peeling.

    what i done was buy cheap emulsion and mixed it with 50% water. this makes paint very watery. Roll on this paint using a roller and it will seal the walls. walls were left streaky after this coat. then come along with your finished paint, and one maybe two coats will finish it.

    depth of subfloor is something your engineer would have to sign off on. during my build engineer would only sign off a 6 inch subfloor so i guess it depends on what your engineer would sign off.

    Condensation + tile damage

    i had problem on a patio door in my new build. Basically the tiles were getting wet when it rained. On further investigation found that the holes in the patio door to allow water to escape were blocked with plaster. when i cleaned out these holes the problem disappeared. Not sure if this helps...
