why are so many paying the Household charge early?

I completely disagree. :( EUR100 is 'nothing' to who exactly? Maybe not to you, but to plenty of people it is something. And just because a person can afford it does not mean they automatically should pay it. Same goes for anything for which you pay money: you don't just accept being...

    DIRT on CU Dividends.

I thought DIRT was only charged on deposit interest, not on dividends (do divs not have a separate WHT tax rate)?

    NIB eSaver alternative

This is not quite correct, I have the AIB online notice 7 a/c and sweep in/out via a demand deposit a/c, which incurs no fees.

    Bad attitude at Ulster Bank

I had the exact same experience in Ulster Bank just a few weeks ago, the teller actually waited 'til I said 'Yes, I want to lodge it.' Even though I already had a credit book with me, had it in front of them with the money, filled out and ready for stamping!

    Anglo Connect

Rabo charged me 27% dirt on interest for 2010 instead of 25%

Nationwide UK has now refunded the difference in DIRT rates on my a/c. So looks like you don't need to wait until next pay date with them after all. :)

Rabo charged me 27% dirt on interest for 2010 instead of 25%

SS expert, I'd expect it to be at the new rate 27%, as the rate is based on pay date.

Closing my Irish Bank Account. Do Rabo Accept Cheques?

Hi, Just to note, I was in INBS about a month ago and was told that if a withdrawal is for greater than 5K they can transfer it to the other bank; if less than this it has to be taken as a cheque.

    Advice for Demand Account

Just to note, the internet access for Angloconnect is read-only, i.e. you cannot make any transactions yourself online. It just shows you your accounts, balances, accrued interest, etc.

    Investec Bank?

The rate on the 1yr a/c is fixed for the term, it does not fluctuate during your term once opened & money is deposited. They do however close rate offers and open new offers (at, for the moment, lower rates!), but once you have your money in to them that makes no difference.

Anglo Reg. Saver maturing, can I open another?

I had same thing happen as jacobean. The woman on the phone was very apologetic and moved the money within a day, but it just shows you need to double-check they act on your request!

Re: Anglo Irish launches new 8% Regular Savings Account You should receive a letter with your Angloconnect registration details, containing your user ID. I've had to provide this to banks a few times. I use the "notice of tax credits" letter sent normally in Jan/Feb each year. They normally accept it dated within the last year.
