Best mobile pre-pay if I just want to keep my old number but not make calls

Tesco has been a bit of a nightmare. Lots of problems with my vmail. Customer service is 20c a min or more possibly from non-tesco mobile. Long story but they have failed miserably to sort it all out. Who is my next best option please?

Best mobile pre-pay if I just want to keep my old number but not make calls

Good point on the charge for vmail, but i don't think there will be much as the message will ask them to call the new number. I could forward if its the same operator and they do it for free, but its not a big issue for me, and they may requre bigger top-up. So, the smaller the top-up...

Best mobile pre-pay if I just want to keep my old number but not make calls

I have a new phone with a new number, but want to retain my old number in case I want to change back to it in future (it's a long story but is business related). I want to put my old number in an old phone, and on pre-pay. Just so I can leave a message stating my new number. I will...

Any risk opening a sterling deposit account with KBC in Ireland?

I bought some sterling to avoid holding too much euro in case of any devaluation if we were to exit the euro. I was thinking of putting it into my Santander account, but the interest rate is only 0.5%. My IFA suggested KBC sterling 12 month deposit which gives around 3.1% , or lesser...

Meteor or 3 for smartphone bundle

Interesting! I use the Cabbage app to interface with vodafone webtexts, I guess I can use that for any of them so i don't mind if they have a crappy interface (was that the issue?) Thanks!

Meteor or 3 for smartphone bundle

I am due an upgrade with Vodafone. Currently on Bill pay 100 anytime calls and texts. I want to get the Samsung Galaxy S2. Looking at what I get from 3, I can't see any reason to stay with Vodafone. Vodafone bundles are pretty mean (in a bad way). [broken link removed] e.g. Classic...

    Damp attic since insulation

Update! Problem recurred. Roofer said the chimney cap was not fitted right - the infill part around the pots was only filled level to the precast cap and over time had weathered, allowing rain to pool and later on seep down the stack, eventually percolating thru the stack and presumably...

Anyone use infrared heaters for conservatory?

Is there an Infrared / dull emitter heater that would be suitable for heating humans? I was looking at something like this: [broken link removed] Was wondering would it heat me and the kids if its hung at lightbulb level ie about 8 feet? I have no idea if 250w would give much heat...

MVHR - Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery - pros and cons

Fair point Capt Beaky but as I don't have either a crystal ball or a time machine, all I can do is find out the latest up to date info and opinions and make the best judgement based on those. What's your own opinion / experience on MVHR / MHRV ?

MVHR - Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery - pros and cons

Good points well made buildright. Thanks for taking the time. Lots to think about. (Haven't heard too many dissenting voices either which is interesting in itself.)

MVHR - Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery - pros and cons

Hi buildright, thanks for the response, great to get help from someone who knows what they are talking about. A couple of things: 1. the house is planned to have a standard central heating system so no saving in plumbing there (you may argue that there is no need for standard central...

MVHR - Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery - pros and cons

Hi buildright, many thanks for such a long and detailed reply, it's very convincing in favour of MHRV / MVHR. I have a few questions if that's OK: 1. What is the basis of your expertise and experience? (a) Do you have MHRV in your own home? (b) Do you install these systems? or (c)...

MVHR - Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery - pros and cons

PS I know there already is a thread on this here but its a bit out of date, am looking for an up to date perspective if possible please.

MVHR - Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery - pros and cons

I am looking for a good summary of the pros and cons of MVHR - Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery. Obviously I would like to find something written from an independent viewpoint, not something written by one of the firms selling these systems. I would be particularly interested in...

    Damp attic since insulation

Thanks ONQ. I hear what you are saying. It shouldn't seep in along the rafters, any moisture should tend to run down the middle of the valley in the felt. Wonder why it does though.... I just don't see any leaks in the felt, nor is it threadbare. I am pretty much at a loss now as to what is...

    Damp attic since insulation

Thanks for responding ONQ. Not sure where you got the idea that the felt was gone at the ridge - maybe I wasn't clear - it was the pointing. The felt in general looks fine from the underside at least.

    Damp attic since insulation

Hate to say it - but this problem is not sorted out yet. Am seeing dampness along the top edge of some of the rafters, still on the north side of the roof. Seems to seep down from above the felt, possibly via nail holes. The only good thing is that the felt itself is dry now, even on the cold...
