Is there an app which does a money makeover?

Although SCA got a lot of attention last year, AISP was also part of the PSd2 regulations. It forces financial institutions to build APIs that allow (somewhat regulated) third parties to access your account information. Sensibly, this isn’t based on giving third parties your username and...

"Motor insurance ‘monster rally’ attracts low numbers"

Reducing premiums doesn't necessarily mean subsidization. Perhaps someone could look at why the insurers are forced to charge so much?

    Authorising declined/subsequently taken visa

It's probably neither relevant not very helpful but merchants can submit your card details for settlement even if there was never a previous online authorisation or if the authorisation was declined. Odd, yes. Illegal, no. You gave consent by submitting your details. The fact that some party to...

Car Crushed by Management Company while on Vacation

I'd imagine the OMC will come to some settlement with you for the value of your car but there's somethigh missing from your post. You say the car was parked properly, they say it was illegally parked - which is it?

Dublin airport - parking for short period of time

if I remember correctly, short term is free for 15 minutes and then has a miniumm payment of one hour. It's only a few minutes walk from the relevant terminal. Again, memory is hazy but you might have to do a lap of the airport if you want to drop someone off and then park the car, I think the...

Taxi passenger opened door in front of an oncoming car.

She opened the door in front of an oncoming car, it's entirely her fault. If she wanted to get out in the inside, she could have asked the driver to pull forward.

cr card charge after 2 years

I assume she means it was authorised and an auth code issued back in 2012 so your card number changing in the meantime has no effect on the settlement.

    Irish Rail Tax Saver Discount

I used that promotion a few years ago and was told it was open to anyone with a TaxSaver (branded) ticket which means one issued by (or part issued by) Irish Rail or Dublin Bus. Luas isn't included (as far as I can remember) unless it's LUAS plus irish rail or dublinbus. I'm not sure about bus...

    Payment for holidays not taken

I'm guessing the law is there because an employee being forced not to take their holidays is also unlikely to defend their rights against their employer. ie rather than have the employee prove bullying, they force the employer to prove it wasn't.

    Willow park, glasnevin north

I lived there for two years about ten years ago. Had no problems at all, quiet estate, lots of kids but in problems that I was aware of. The house seemed fine to me too. Hearing it called iGlasnevin North made me giggle though, Extreme Glasnevin North maybe ;-)

    Irish Water requesting Details

It's a utility like any other. It doesn't take insider knowledge to guess that they'll be accepting direct debit, credit card online or cash in shop/post office like all the others. People (not you) get very excited over the strangest of things.

Proper two way cycle lane to be built on Dublin quays

I'm only in favour of HOV lanes with heavy enforcement. Since that never happens here, I'd be totally against it. And even then, I'd never countenance converting a bus lane into a HOV lane because the relative carrying capacity of a fully laden car doesn't even come close to approaching that of...

Proper two way cycle lane to be built on Dublin quays

You're right - roads are a commodity. The way to make a road carry the most people is definitely not by car. Approximately 65% of vehicles in the city centre are cars but they're carrying less than 35% of the people. If you want to carry more people, the statistics prove that you wouldn't do it...

Proper two way cycle lane to be built on Dublin quays

Dublin Bikes was the brainchild of the then-Lord Mayor of Dublin, Andrew Montague. It was (initially) done entirely without funding from or involvement of the government, the civil service or the (central government) public service. The only people involved were DCC and JCD. The second phase...
