Meals for 6 for the price of a box of Cornflakes?

Bacon lardons/streaky rashers Mushrooms Spaghetti Cream Haven't the prices but i'd be fairly sure you could get the lot for less than a fiver in lidl/aldi and would possibly still have some pasta leftover.

    Time off to breastfeed

I have alot of sympathy for small businesses trying to keep afloat while also trying to comply with the legislation surrounding maternity leave. It must be incredibly hard to deal with a small amount of staff if several are pregnant at the same time. As a young mother i wouldn't blame any...

40k women ran the Dublin mini-marathon. Did you ever hear a better name for a 6k run?

+1, seems a bit of a mean spirited thread to me!

A cushy number: easiest job you've ever had

+1, and the parents always left lots of goodies and had sky movies, i used to love babysitting! Also worked in a leisure centre/arcade/pool tables type place where you paid a euro admission, i sat at a desk at the front door taking the money and chatting to the doorman, a very handy number!

Unemployed father of 8 demanding bigger house from LA so he can have more babies.

I can't understand how anyone can defend this guy, he chooses to have children that he cannot support, how irresponsible can he be?? Fair enough if at one time he had the money and then fell on hard times, it could happen to us all, but choosing to have a family that he knowingly can't provide...

    Having a baby :)

Not the case for the coombe, i had a scan at 10 weeks (dating scan) and at 21 weeks (anomoly scan). Also i did combined care in the tallaght clinic which meant i saw my gp and midwife for alternate appointments. For my midwife apts i was never waiting more than 10 minutes. I only attended the...

Go safe camera van - Do you flash other road users as a warning?

I wouldn't flash, if you're speeding then imo you should be done for it!

What are we watching on TV?

I looove survivor! Ringer (sarah michelle gellar's new series, looks kind of thriller, mystery style) is starting tonight, i think on sky living. I'd recommend blue bloods. I'm starting maternity leave next week so i have seasons 1 and 2 of mad men to entertain me til the baby makes an...

    'Getting engaged'?

I don't really understand long engagements either, surely the engagement means you are planning on getting married in the near future? I said to my now husband that i had no wish to get engaged until we could get married within a year or so of the engagement, otherwise it's a bit mortifying when...

    3 mobile

3 have horrendous customer service. I applied for an iphone on bill from them and sent in all my documents. A week later i rang to see how the order was getting on. I was told a deposit was required and when i asked when i was going to be asked for the deposit i was met with silence. So not only...

    Food to die for ?

truthseeker i used the packets of dried yeast from tesco, most of the time i'd use a half packet per batch. I must admit i'm a bit of 'pinch here, handful there' type of cook and wouldn't measure everything exactly. I've found trial and error the best way for making the dough, i would knead it...

    Paddy Power and the dole

The suggestion is a bit too big brother imo. By the same reasoning should people be prevented from buying alcohol/junk food/going out to the cinema with social welfare payments? The same argument could be made that these aren't neccessary purchases and are for pleasure.

    Food to die for ?

I'd tend to halve the recipe and make two individual pizzas for myself and hubbie. I'd say the best way to freeze it would be in individual balls and then roll out when defrosted.

    Food to die for ?

I can't quite figure out how to quote the original post here so i've just copied and pasted and the author is ramble 1 1/2 lbs strong flour (plain will do but stong makes it springyer and rise better) 1 packet instant yeast 16 fl oz warm water sploge of olive oil ( about 2 big spoons full)...

    Food to die for ?

The ultimate devestation is for your chinese to delivery to arrive and then discover there's no milk:eek:, an urgent trip to the garage for milk follows.

    Food to die for ?

Ronanc i have heard that dairy can be a no no for asthmas suffererers too. Also i've heard that the molecules in cow's milk are harder for human's to digest and we should really drink goat's milk or rice milk. I tried goat's milk before but it is very sweet and more expensive. Thankfully i've...

    Food to die for ?

Thanks for that, it's like talking to a brick wall most of the time with her. I'm a big advocate of milk anyway, i'd easily drink a pint and a half a day, somedays over a litre, usually low fat now but as a child and all through my teens and early twenties it was full fat. My mam drank a litre...

    Food to die for ?

I don't understand avoiding potatoes, if they're boiled, mashed (without too much butter :)) or baked they are a healthy food full of complex carbohydrate and low in fat. Also if baked and the skins are eaten you're gtting some fibre too. A colleague in work has avoided drinking milk for years...
