    I would say not. Prior to SEPA direct debits only arrived in the debtor bank on the day before they were due to be debited, SEPA changed this to 5 days but its now proposed to revert back to one day over the next year or two.

    Under the SEPA Schemes direct debits must be in the debtor bank 5 days before the debit is due for debiting. Your German bank obviously use this time to advice of the pending debit.

    Regulation 260/2012 Article 9.2 makes it perfectly clear that payee's (in this case Ulster Bank) cannot dictate the member state in which a payment account must be located. Go back to them and quote this regulation.

    Monies transferred electronically to your bank account are irrevocable under legislation. They can only be reversed with your authorisation. Electronic transfer is more secure, quicker and cheaper than bank draft.

    Irish Bank NSC & Account Numbers are not always unique and none of the IBAN calculators availbale on the internet are approved. I agree with Gulliver to be 100% accurate check your bank statement or ask the beneficiary for the BIC and IBAN

    Bacs reference I imagine is your reference of the payment Question 2 - you should definitely use BIC and IBAN because all payments both domestic and cross border will have to use BIC / IBAN from Feb 2014.

    If money is transferred electronically into your account there is NO delay in the money being available. The delay only relates to where you lodge a cheque to your account. If the transfer was made before 3 pm yesterday it should be in the account this morning and the funds will be cleared...
