Flying to Perth - Connecting in Dubai

Just wondering how it will work with duty free. Can we pick stuff up in Dublin and bring it through? Or should we wait till we get to Dubai? As far as I know there's a transfer lounge in Dubai. Does that mean we don't have to go out and come back in (from a security point of view) and that we...

Sold House....What do I do with the money?

Re: Sold House....What do I do with the money?? Naturally, if you don't need all of the money now, you could leave it where it is. The AU$/EUR rate is pretty bad now alright. Nearly [broken link removed]. They're inter-bank rates too. The customer rate is usually not as good (only by a couple...

    Laptop to TV hook up

I'm pretty sure I've done this with a regular 4-pin cable (here's someone else that has also used a 4-pin cable on a 7-pin connector). Wikipedia also says So the full 7-pins just seem to offer some extra functionality. The bare-minumum 4-pin still seems to carry the video signal.

    scanning doc and changing date?

A related trick I've been using recently to fill in Acrobat (PDF) files which aren't natively editable is to use the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer to print the PDF file to a TIFF file. You can then then use the Microsoft Word 'Format/Background ...' option to select the TIFF file as the...

    carrigmore--vs--the belfry

There was an article in last week's Tallaght Echo saying that Mansfield has started working on his own stretch of the LUAS line. It also said that he expects the Minister to making an announcement some time over the next couple of weeks. There is a proposed stop outside Carrigmore.

    Hotels near Croke Park.

Which particular policy would that be for? You're not a TD having a Freudian moment are you :). You're about 20/30mins walk from the city centre so shop around. You might get something a bit more cheaper and cheefurl-er. Er... Anyway, €150 for that night in Jurys Christchurch (for example). I'm...

How much trouble will I be in?

If just first names were used then it's still an option. You'll know better than we do regarding the content of the email but if it's just first names that were being used you could be in with a shout. God only knows the number of times I've started to type in the first name of someone in the...

Best spots to go to in Oz & NZ

@ jmayo: What did you make of Monkey Mia itself? Was thinking of doing that later this year but flights are expensive. If you can recommend dolphin-ing anywhere else in WA, please do so. @ OP: You could do worse than reading Down Under for some tips. If nothing else, it's a chuckly read.

How much trouble will I be in?

Is there any way you could probably tell your mate in the other company to send a follow up email to their email apologising for an incorrectly addressed email? Of course, it will depend on the content of the email that they sent and if surnames were used. Or, if you were copied on the email to...

Statutory Declaration - who can witness/countersign

I need to have a statutory declaration drawn up and was wondering if a commissioner for oaths is sufficient for my needs? Or if anyone can tell me who else can do the job (e.g. garda, priest, bank manager, etc.) that would also be helpful.

Converting a pdf file to word

If you have the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer installed (as a printer) it will print anything you have (including PDF) to an image file. After 'printing' it opens the image in the Document Image Writer utility. From there there is an OCR (optical character recognition) feature which...
