    Large cash deposit

There is a limit to which bank branches must/should report deposits for money laundering purposed...I'm guessing that figure will hit th map. If you've nothing to worry about and can explain the cash,I wouldn't stress

    Buying a Tuscon

One major thing I don't like about the Tuscon is the column/frame between the windscreen and the door is quite thick (A-Frame?), so when you turning to the right you lose a lot of visibility.

    dont know where to turn

Thats good he has a trade, however be aware that tradies from all over the world will also be applying for the same type of visa and that it takes approx 18 - 24 months to process if successful. It needs to be applied for from outside Australia and a case worker from UK will most likely be...

    dont know where to turn

I can't advise you on your debts but do lots of research on Australia before leaving Ireland. Getting a working visa for Australia is not that easy and can be costly. The fastest route seems to be via company sponsorship - usually a 457 skilled worker visa. The visa lasts for up to 4...

    Advantages of Visa Debit cards?

I've look around other threads, but didn't find a clear answer. Can anyone explain the advantages of Visa Debit cards over Laser/Maestro/Cirrus cards? How do their services differ? Thanks.

Any chance of Banks "wriggling out" of trackers ?

I spoke with someone in banking before about Trackers and they hinted to look at the T&Cs. I'm not certain as I haven't looked at the T&Cs. Would they be vague enough to allow for the Tracker product to be simply discontinued/withdrawn in totality? I guess that would push everyone onto variable...

    Thailand for honeymoon....

I've been to Chang Mai for 3 nights and thought it was a bit of a waste. It's a good base for trekking, but with 3 days/nights the worthwhile options aren't really open. The markets in Bangkok are better too - much of the same stuff but more expensive in Chang Mai. Theres a good temple there...

    Study French in France

I spent a few months with a host family in France when I was 15 and thoroughly enjoyed it, but possibly not for reasons my parents would have approved of! My host family didn't impose any restrictions on me at all. They gave me a key to the door and a map of the train system, so off I went and...

Best way to get to L.A

LA via Heathrow is fine. Heathrow isn't the nicest of airports, but at least you go direct from there. I'd prefer to have one short hop and then direct where you can switch off/sleep until you get to LA, than 2 medium length flights. Air NewZealand are good to fly direct from Heathrow to LA...

Rubber on washing machine door damaged

I had the same problem with a small hole in the rubber of my washing machine last year. Called out Mastercare who suggested just moving the hole to the top as the rest of the rubber was fine and it was a cheaper/quicker solution. Hey presto - a year later and still no problems.

    Mobile pest texts

Try ringing directly to their voicemail. Many people personalise the message with "Hi, this is xxxx. Leave a message" You can do this by prefixing the number with a 5. So, 087 - 5 - (the number). If unsuccessful contact the providers and register with them that you are recieving nuisance...

What type of floor is more common in offices and homes: wooden/carpets/???

Carpet/Felt tiles have been used in any office I've worked in. If one area gets damaged/stained, you can lift those tiles and replace them with new ones without replacing the entire floor.

    The Reality of Education Cutbacks

There were 34 in my primary school class and we lived in a very good area (not disadvantaged by any stretch), and 36 in the other class of the same year. I never felt I lost out due to the size of the class. That was late 80s/early 90s. Weren't taxes higher in the 80s than they are now?

    vaccinations south east asia

Just to clear up about Hep B - it isn't only sexually transmitted. It can be passed through blood products, unclean medical equipment, from mother to child etc etc. I've the Hep B vacc (as well as a long list of vaccs) as I now live overseas and should I ever need surgery or a blood tranfusion...

    Shopping/Attractions in LA?

If you like roller coasters, Six Flags is worth a trip. @g1g - October is a good time. The weather will have cooled to a nice temp - esp in Vegas.

    E-ticket change date

It depends on the airline and ticket class. Some tickets allow for 1 free change, others charge a fee plus any difference in ticket price, etc etc... There is no single answer. Its best to ring the airline first, and if they can't help try the travel agent.

    Where to go on holidays?

Asia... all countries are great. Thailand is fab, but I believe Cambodia and Vietnam are great too. Very cheap once you get there too. Dinner for €3 (or less), a beer for less than a €1 etc.

Hiring a cruiser for the lakes

We spent a week cruising the Shannon a couple of years ago. We picked up our boat in Carrick On Shannon and headed north towards Sligo-ish direction before turning back. The Locks are grand, nothing to worry about - you can get a prepaid card in advance, which is handy. However, it was the most...

    Where to buy: Cork?

Ballinlough might be worth a look. Its close to the city, is settled, close to schools, buses into town are fairly regular, O'driscoll shop has a nice hot food and meat counter, and douglas and mahon shopping centres are close by. If you don't know Cork well, prehaps you should rent for a...
