    RSU's in a pre-IPO / Private company

Does that 'double trigger' have any dependency on anything with Revenue? I know the UK seems to have a 'readily convertible asset' definition which helps support this scenario.

    RSU's in a pre-IPO / Private company

Hi all, I understand tax obligations on share options, and RSUs in a public company, having had both, but I'm a bit confused as to how an RSU works in a private pre-IPO company and how this is dealt with from a tax perspective at time of vesting. My understanding is that the typical 'benefit'...

Bad time to take out life insurance?

I'm a 40yr old, married, father of two. We cleared our mortgage last year, and so wanted to change the mortgage protection policy for a 'full' life cover. Like other things it was put on the long finger. Does anyone know if life insurance rates have changed much with the potential of the...

Robot lawnmowers - pros & cons & experiences

The bit I'm struggling with is dealing with multiple separate areas of grass, it doesn't seem like there is a great solution here yet. Has anyone solved this yet?

    Ending Mortgage

AIB were easier, got a letter confirming the account was closed, a follow up when the deeds were ready for collection. One thing to think about is where you're going to store the deeds, so fireproof safe or with solicitor might be good options. Have something lined up though. They also wanted...

    Internet Speed

I'd be inclined to look at the wifi service within the house, distance from router or interference with. If you've got dual band 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, then 5Ghz should be the band to use. Try the test from right beside the router, and then from your other/usual locations in the home.

PV system - is it worth getting a battery?

What are you doing for hot water? Have you considered a diverter like an EDDI to use that surplus? What mode have you got the Zappi in? An EV needs 1.4kw of power to charge, so if you are using Eco+ mode only on Zappi, you may be finding times when you've got solar surplus but not enough to...

My experience with installing SEAI grant aided solar PV

Quotes look competitive alright. I talked to NextGen Power and also SaveMeMoney.ie and both got to the €10k mark for 5kw solar / 5kw battery, including VAT, but excluding grant (€3800)

    Lump Sum Payment to Pension?

Regardless of tax relief paying into the pension, you're getting tax free growth once it's in there. No DIRT, no CGT, no settlement every 8-years. If the money is destined for pension use anyway, it's worth keeping this in mind.

Which inverter have you got? What's the app like for monitoring it, or is that screen what you need to use?

    Fibre Broadband connection

I went with eir for first year FTTH, install was quick and easy, service was good. They messed up 2 months ago trying to charge me for excess usage, ended up over-charged 100eur, as credit, said it would take up to 60days for a cheque. 12 months now up. Rang to get a renewal, 30mins, and 4...

Best way to pay £8k for car

You're right - and I got myself confused also, I found the €11 on debit not credit. But overall value is too big to go all on debit. Round in circles a bit.

Best way to pay £8k for car

Good point. I've generally ruled it out myself recently, have found a number of places more reluctant to take it, £8k seems a little on large side for carrying around. I need to get train up. So agree a rate, or just agree EUR amount that you will transfer out? This still needs to be done via...

Best way to pay £8k for car

Hi all, Buying a car, £8k dealer in the North. What are best options to pay cheaply and conveniently? For convenience I'd really like to be able to do a card transaction. I have an N26 Mastercard. N26 say they pass on MasterCard rates without markup, but seems like they have a €5k daily limit...

    Not working full notice period

Hi all, If an employee resigns, but either refuses or does not wish to work the full notice period, what are the consequences for the employee? In this case we would be talking about a permanent employee, private sector, with a contract stating 1 months notice. A shorter notice period could be...
