State's 15-day "prompt payment" rule extended:

Not on the 15 day commitment, but it impacts on the interest charged after the 30 day point. Previously sums under 5 euro didn't have to be paid and no compensation was payable unless the company being paid late looked for it. Now all interest amounts must be paid and compensation must be...

    maternity benefit to be taxed

You do realise public servants pay tax? How will they not be affected? Actually, they may be more affected than private sector workers if the public sector pension levy also applies in addition to the normal 20/41% income tax, PRSI and USC that will be applied to everyone.

Calculating penalties and interest on undeclared rental income

Yes, but it will be restricted to the amount of the social welfare income so won't reduce the tax due on the rental income. Be careful here, without actual receipts/proof this is getting into a murky area, especially when Revenue already has doubts about the person! As with the other posters...

As you have registered with the PRTB you can deduct 75% of your mortgage interest from your rental income - TRS only gives you 30% (assuming FTB) so if your interest is 12k pa, for example, then your TRS is only 3.6k versus a deduction of 9k, which completely covers your gross rental income of...

Why I'm in favour of a properly constituted property tax

    Working Two Jobs/Working Time/On-Call

In your original post you say your contract says "compensated for being on-call by way of time in lieu" - if this is the case then there won't be a problem with the 48 hour average maximum.

State's 15-day "prompt payment" rule extended:

The reduction to 15 days was introduced as a commitment by the Government for all public bodies to pay sooner in order to improve cash flow for SMEs but the legislation was not changed so effectively it is just a guideline. (The Prompt Payments Act applies to all commercial transactions not just...
