Might be getting an iPad - but would like android smartphone

I've been a Windows/PC person for years but was then given an iPad as a present. I love it, far more than I expected to. Six months later I decided to change my crappy old phone and went for a Samsung Galaxy, really happy with it. Most of my favourite apps are available on both devices so it...

    Bedroom with shower

I'd say in a student let like that it could be very handy. Would it have killed the current occupant to straighten the bed up a bit though?!

    Clearing a toilet blockage

I've read before that washing up liquid is surprisingly effective, but haven't tried it myself! In case you want to give it a go, here's a link to how to proceed: http://billcarson.hubpages.com/hub/UnclogYourToilet

Anyone know about Silva Tree investments? intially looks too good to be true: 13% p.a

Thanks for your interesting response pjsherry – unfortunately it has cost me an hour or more as I read more on this very intriguing story! Here are a few things I found which will hopefully round the story out a little more: [broken link removed] Gives his side of the story and talks about the...

    Grade 4 hotel centre Dublin

I stayed in the Gibson not too long ago and really liked it. Very contemporary, free wifi, red line Luas outside the door and secure parking. Plus the views were very good.

    Best value for Rangemaster?

I got a Rangemaster appliance at a good price from DID a few years ago, but I went in to them with a couple of quotes from other shops and asked them what they could do pricewise. Have found their customer service good in the past so was happy when they matched the lowest quote.

Anyone know about Silva Tree investments? intially looks too good to be true: 13% p.a

Interesting read here on Bananama Republic: http://www.bananamarepublic.com/2012/02/24/faq-silva-tree-sustainable-capital-group/ As it is posted in the "Scams & Frauds" section of the website it seems "Silva Tree", now "Sustainable Capital Group" has not been a success story. I hope no AAM...

    Aer Lingus online check-in facility

I went to the Canaries last month, and paid an extra fiver each way for the seats when booking. I was able to print out boarding passes for the outbound and return flights before leaving Ireland. When we arrived at the airport for our return flight there was a big queue at the checkin desk...

    Spa Hotel over Christmas

Druid's Glen is a very good hotel for families - however I'm not sure the OP is bringing any kids?! There's only one bar so it's hard to get a quiet romantic seat ;) I think Kelly's is closed for Christmas, they are usually shut over the winter until sometime in February or March...

Thanks mathepac, that's very interesting - I had assumed I'd need to get whatever solution in the Canaries. 26cb - hotel is very isolated, no bars or cafes around!

Prepaid mobile wifi for using iPad in Canaries?

My other half and I are heading to Tenerife for a couple of weeks later in the year and will be bringing our iPads for both personal use and some business use. The hotel we are staying in charges €25 per week per device and reception can be a bit dodgy, therefore I was wondering if it might...

Landlord looking for mattress cleaning advice.

Oh yuck! Have to say I'd far prefer a new cheap mattress than a more expensive one containing the previous occupant's waste bodily fluids! A young relative is currently looking to rent, I must tell him to check the mattress in case he's unfortunate enough to find the OP's property or that of a...

Neighbour's dog pooing on my doorstep

A skull and crossbones sign with "POISON" in nice big clear print underneath. The dog may not be able to read but the owner probably can.

    school contribution any tax relief,

If a school asks for €125 or more per annum, then they would probably be quite happy for you to pay double every second year (assuming they are registered as having charitable status) and this way you could claim relief. I know of at least one school that encourages this.

    Computer/software recommendations please

As a longtime PC user married to someone who does lots of video stuff (on Macs), I agree wholeheartedly with mathepac. Go into any professional video setup and you'll see pretty much everyone using Macs! It's unfortunate that Apple equipment is more expensive, but buying a PC for someone...

    Kilkee

It's a few years since we were there for a long weekend but we enjoyed it - especially as it was dry! The curving beach is lovely, there are a few good pubs - Naughtons is not to be missed, great food and atmosphere. The kids loved Waterworld, spent hours there on the big slide. We went for a...

    Noisy children

Be very careful. This could escalate out of all proportion and if you think it's bad now, you could find it impossible if it gets worse. I wish I could offer a solution, but all I have is sympathy. We had years of basketball going in our neighbours driveway, and give me a bunch of teens...
