[broken link removed] I'm a ber assessor myself but I do not do private jobs, I have used the above guy on my own house following getting seai grant work done on my home and I also recommended him to my sister after she had work done on her house. His rate seems reasonable to me.

    Green Stoves

http://www.borustoves.ie/ Irish made and their insert stove An Croi Beag http://www.irelandstoves.com/BoruStovesBrochure[1].pdf is great, 84.3% efficient so is great for your secondary heat source when having a BER carried out. An open fire is only 30% efficient. They have distributors...

    BER cost

I recently did the BER course, I'd say realistically €250 to €350 should be the going rate depending on property size (I do not charge for BERs as it is part of my overall job to do). For an EXISTING dwelling you have to measure everything in the property, (walls, floor areas, doors windows...

    very worried-assets but no cash

I agree with Brendan regarding the Creche. Does not make sense if your husband is about to mind the child to be paying €650 a month to a creche. That €650 could be spent much wiser. Kids adapt, removal from the creche and time spent with the parent doing fun activity's is not such a bad thing.

    Cats sleeping area

I had a stray cat in my garden 18 months ago.... it was very timid and i eventually won its trust over 5 months of feeding it. Then it popped out 4 kittens. I found out they become more trusting and stay about if they are nesting. Is the stray getting any bigger?

Tenerife or Ibiza for 2 males in late 20's?

Ibiza is very nice (food & scenery) but night life is expensive. The well know clubs can cost €50 to get into and once in drink can set you back €10 for a bottle of beer.

Buying house from boyfriend's family - Gift tax

Is the house really worth €460k? With the current climate when people are looking for a quick sale they reduce the asking price. If you BF's parents were selling the house on the open market at a value of €460k and Joe Murphy cames along and offers €400k and the parents accept are they giving...

Mobile homes - are they subject to the new €200 tax on 2nd homes?

I think it would be utter madness for mobile homes to be included in this tax. People should be encouraged to stay & holiday in Ireland.
